you may or may not lik this city it is always moving nothing ever stops... to me it seemed kindof dark and gloomy and too fast-paced at first.. if you love urban life this city will be a haven for you though... but there are some great mom and pop stores and resteruants we found and you must go to a show on broadway if you ever visit new york and its fun just walkin the streets with the masses of people and all the stands of hotdogs and cheap souveniers and also the upscale shoppin was so much fun! even if u dont hav money it is fun just daydreamin and the people may seem too rushed to ever talk to you but we met some very friendly people who at times wouldnt stop talkin! overall nice city to visit...

I was born in NYC, but live in the south now. I consider NYC as the place that "never sleeps" don't matter what time of the day or night you are there, there is always SOMEBODY that will be there with something. No lie; Every time I go back, I feel alive and caught up in the energy of the city. The energy is definitely fast paced, there is always something to see or do, and life continually goes on up there. I suggest www.nyctrip.com for any info on the city and I hope that helps you. I have never been to Italy, but I can tell you if Italy is laid back, NYC isn't.

NY has the same hustle of Rome, but the buildings and architecture are a lot more modern. There are a ton of trains, busses and traffic. Part's of it are very chic, similar to the area near the Spanish Steps, parts of it are very ethnic, like near the termini, but there are a lot less beggars in NYC.

Electricity. Pure energy. Hyper fast moving at blazing speed. Your heart tries but can't keep up with the breakneck pace of swarms of people moving about trying to get somewhere so millions of dollars could be made or lost.

it's amazing, sheer magic. words cannot describe it.
Imagine everything you've ever seen of New York in movies and photos... it's like that, but yet completely different at the same time.
I've been dozens - maybe hundreds - of times, and it still amazes me.
