O.k., so I just installed limewire on my computer, and did a search(to the yahoo internet police, I'm not using this for copywrite infringement, so don't freak out), well, a dialog box said that it couldn't connect to my computer because I had a firewall blocking it from connecting. What the heck does that mean? I swear, I'm really starting to hate windows vista. Is it posible to turn the firewall off? And why is my internet slower whenever I have a file sharing program downloaded on my computer? Thanks so much! :o)

are you kidding me, unless your an idiot and share tons of files your not going to get caught, not to mention the morality issue is not so black and white as some would make it seem. as far as this goes though. Limewire should give you the option of opeining up a port for it to use to get through the firewall. other wise in order to disable onw you have to know which one it is(more than likely windows) then you can disable it, the windows firewall settings are located in the control panel.

What you can try is opening up your Internet browser, click on Tools then Internet Options and click on the privacy tab. There you can adjust your settings, sometimes when you do this it allows certain web content or "lime-wire" to get through. This has happened a few times to me and doing that sometimes helped the situation. I too have Windows Vista on one PC and Windows ME on another.

Vista can be very shitty at times. Still a lot of programs that are not capable to work with it, but don't worry soon Vista will be the new XP, lol.

You internet is slower because when you are using a P2P file-sharing program you are uploading files to other people who want the files that you have. You do not only download "stuff", you upload "stuff" off of your computer too. It is the way P2P works

Of course since you have no files that would infringe on a (sic) copywrite to share, you would have no worries about being busted for distributing stolen property (copyrighted files) from your computer.

Enjoy!

Its completely criminal to apply Limewire and Limewire professional. Its in basic terms what you obtain and wether you're entitled to a replica is yet another ingredient. To obtain William Peterson is prohibited in case you do no longer already very own the dvd. you need to purchase it or might finally end up procuring 10,000 copies of the dvd and probable detention center time....in case you're traced and loose in courtroom.

erm...firewall is somekind of system which disabled you from downloading anything from the internet. to turn off this system, go to your control panel, click on network connections, and beside your network connection window, there's a link that says "change windows firewall settings". you'll open a new window and there's an option whether to turn on or off your firewall settings. if this won't work then i cannot help you. :)

You do know that the music industry is cracking down on this, don't you? Thousands of people have been busted and fined heavily for using this stuff, and rightfully so. Are you sure you even want it?
