Try a different flea treatment.
As flea treatments go, Frontline is one of the safest, but there isn't a drug on Earth that hasn't caused some kind of reaction somewhere at some point.
There is no point not spreading the fur when you apply flea spot-ons - they need to go on the skin, if they go on the fur they just won't work.
Move on to Revolution or Advantage, these are just as effective against fleas but they are different drugs so may be better if fipronil (Frontline) is irritating your cat's skin. It's not unusual to have to try out the different leading flea treatment brands before you find which is best for your animal.

Some cats have sensitive skin that will react to the Frontline and other similar products. My previous cat, who had the same problem, but who also went outside and needed protection from fleas, benefited greatly from daily omega-3 fatty acid treatments, and a dose of Benedryl antihistamine about 30 mins before treatment with the Frontline, and then about every 8 hours for the first day after application.
It seems like a lot of work, but she picked up fleas from the outdoors, and there's just no other treatment that works so well as Frontline Plus (or Advantage).

Oh NO!
That has never happened with my cats.
Are you sure you are using cat frontline and not dog frontline?
Did you get this product from the vet or from an unknown online source?
Don't use it anymore. And take you cat in to be checked by the vet. Something is wrong with the cat or the frontline. :o(

It sounds like your cat may have an allergy to frontline. Talk to your cats Vet. I use Revolution for my cat I get it from the Vet. Pantheria does just fine with this.

I know exactly what you mean. One of my cats is fine with Frontline, the other pulls her fur out... Speak to your vet as there is another, kinder, version - my 'sensitive' cat is fine with the other version. Good luck.

Hi!
I am a vet tech at a feline only hospital.
Your cat is having a reaction to the frontline. Its very common. He may do better with Advanatge, which is considerably milder

It sounds like your cat is having an allergic reaction to it. Go bathe the cat and use a washcloth to wipe it off with. Then call your vet and see if there isn't another flea treatment that you can use. Good luck

We get a lot of cats like this. We place a small drop in different places instead of it all on the back of the neck.
