My girlfriend and I had intercourse the night her period ended... and I was wondering if the risk of getting pregnant is higher right after her period stops. I used a condom but somehow it tore and I am scared out of my mind. I don't regret having sex with her I just don't want a kid yet and I don't want her to deal with it. I guess the only real way to tell will be in a month. huh?

Is it less likely than other times in a womans cicle but sperm can stay alive for a few days after intercourse. Is it too late for the morning after pill? Remember that does not mean the morning after, it can cover up to two days after.

It's possible, but not likely. A woman's period is her body shedding the lining of her uterus because the egg released for that month did not get fertilized in time. It's gone now. For this reason, this is normally the safest time to have sex during the month. Sperm can hang around alive in there for several days after intercourse, but she still should not ovulate (release the next egg) again soon enough to get pregnant, since her period just ended.

Again, it's always a possibility, but this was actually the worst time of the month if she had been trying to get pregnant on purpose.

Most likly not pregnant. If you useThe rhythm method, (one of the first fertility awareness methods to be widely practiced). It is one of the oldest methods of natural birth control and by far one of the best-known forms of fertility awareness. Unfortunately, it is not necessarily the most reliable method of preventing a pregnancy. Theory and Practice The rhythm method is based on three ideas. Firstly, that women ovulate 14 days before menstruation begins, give or take two days. Secondly, that sperm can survive inside a woman for three days. And lastly, that an egg can only be fertilized within 24 hours of being released from the ovaries. Based on these assumptions, the rhythm method requires a woman to count back 14 days from the first day of her period. This will presumably be the day on which she ovulated and will ovulate the following month. In order to avoid pregnancy, she will need to abstain from sex or use another form of birth control, like condoms, around this time. Problems While this method is fairly simple to follow, it is not necessarily applicable to all women. The first problem lies in the assumption that ovulation will always occur at the same time every month. While it would make life a lot easier for women if this were true, the reality is that the majority of women ovulate at a different time every month. Although they may follow a similar pattern, no woman has a menstrual cycle that is identical every month. Another issue with the rhythm method is the belief that sperm are only viable inside a woman for up to three days. It has been found that sperm may be able to survive for as much as seven days inside a woman. Therefore, it would be necessary to avoid having sex for at least a week prior to when a woman believes ovulation will occur. Moreover, this type of contraception offers absolutely no protection against sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, it will still be necessary to use a condom if you think you may be at risk of an STD. Effectiveness The rhythm method has an average failure rate of 13 to 20%. It is not recommended for women who have irregular cycles or who do not have menstrual cycles that are exactly the same number of days every month.

It depends on your girlfriends ovulation days. Some women are more prone to get pregnent after their period, but it veries from women to women. If you are really worried about her getting pregnant, then wait about 3 weeks and do a home pregnancy test. Even if it come out positive or negative, it's always best to do two. The best time to test is right when you wake up in the morning. There is a chance your girlfriend is pregnant. I had a friend get pregnant b/c the condom broke. If the home pregnancy test come out positive, get her to a doctor asap. If they both come out negative, then you probably don't have anything to worry about as long as she has her next period. If one comes out positive and teh other negative, it's a good idea to go test at the health department. Good Luck!

She wouldn't get pregnant that day because she wouldn't have ovulated yet, but the sperm can live for 5 days in the right conditions, and if she ovulated a few days later a pregnancy could happen. It's still just a small chance though, because she would have to have a very short cycle for that to happen, and most women don't have a cycle that short.

Your chances are pretty much slim to none. I have heard stories of that happening, but it's really rare. I wouldn't stress about it. Most women don't ovulate until 14 days after the first day of her period (give or take a few days) There's a book out there called- Taking Charge of your Fertility -if you really want to find out more.

normally straight after a period the chances are slimmer to get pregnant as normally a girl will not ovulate for another week or so - saying that the chances are still there - so if her period is late / she shows any pregnancy signs - get a test, and be more careful next time
