Anyone (legal or illegal) that litters is bad for the environment.

I think litterbugs, when caught, should have a finger cut off. They won't litter more than 10 times...

My mother raised me to never, ever litter - and I don't. In fact, littering is appalling in my opinion.

But before we jump to judging illegal aliens for littering on their long and dangerous journey, (where there are no trash cans placed along the route, while the people are exhausted, desparately needing to reduce the weight they are carrying and hungry) I'd like us to think about "Maslows hierarchy of needs" to see if it sheds some light on WHY they are littering.

His theory said that as humans meet 'basic needs', they seek to satisfy successively 'higher needs' that occupy a set hierarchy. Our basic needs are things like food, water, shelter and safety. Higher needs might be things like doing things that are socially acceptable or environmentally responsible. If a humans basic needs are not meet (like when traveling across barren land to reach a new country, while hungry, thirsty, scared and with inadequate shelter) they do not have the energy to worry about meeting needs that are more like luxuries (such as recycling or throwing trash away in containers).

This is just appalling - there is no talk of recycling this stuff they are just rounding it up and dumping it. I don't know which is worse that it is left there improperly disposed or that our government spends so much to improperly dispose of it.
