Is the bible an unauthorized biography that he's ashamed of? Is it a peice of crap that he doesn't want anything to do with? Is he afraid he'll have to account for all the inaccuracies, errors, and flat out fabrications claimed in this particular work? Or is he really just dead or non-existent?

Would you want to go sign your name to something that other people wrote? I mean really, would you want to be blamed for those things that people did in your name when you didn't ask it?

Because authors sign books to promote their work so it sells better. Given that the bible is the most sold/read book in the history of pubished works, it would seem a little unecessary.

"If you really have the makings of a higher being, here are some handy guidelines: Don't advertise. Just let your presence be known. Never, under any conditions, go around proclaiming yourself the devil. Others must recognize you as such. The reason the God of the Christians [...] doesn't make regular appearances at concerts, book-signing parties or backyard barbeques is because he doesn't have to. There are plenty of followers who will advertise his existence for him, not to mention attesting to personal acquaintanceship."
