My parents are looking to get a new car and they cant decide towards the two. I like the acura because it looks slick and it a big car with as much safety features (from what I see) as the Volvo. My dad doesnt really car but my mom wants the Volvo because it is traditionally safe. Which would you guys suggest as the best buy? They will be driving the car and 98% of the time it will be my dad. They want a good luxury car but the reason safety is so important is mom my got into a moderate crash a year ago and is affraid to drive but like I said I dont see much difference between the two in safety.

Although the Volvo is a safe car, The Acura will cost less to maintain over the course of its life.parts are easily available and less expensive.the Volvo is always more money for parts and labor.the Acura is years ahead of its time in government safety standards as is Volvo .the Acura will also be worth more at trade time or resell.

Personally I think the TL is one of the best looking cars on the road. It's also a Honda so the reliability factor is very high.

I own a Volvo S60 and it's a great car to drive and has been very reliable in the years I've owned it. I love the car. No breakdowns at all with over 115K miles. Here are my 2 observations since I bought it.

1 - The back seat is tiny. Small even for teen aged kids.

2 - A very good friend also owns an S60. Her son was driving it and was involved in a terrible auto accident. He skidded through a red light in the pouring down rain and got hit hard square on the driver's door. Thank god he's OK. Her son is fine, the car is totaled. But the side curtain airbags never went off. The Volvo probably saved him from serious injury ( glad he wasn't driving a Chevy!!) but the failure of the airbag system has me concerned. Was this an isolated incident, maybe?

Just my observations.

A lot of this decision depends on how long you intend to keep the car. The Acura will be far superior in terms of reliability and cost of operation. The Volvo is a great car too. European cars tend to feel heavier and more solid to me. In reality, the Acura is a Honda Accord with some flare and nicer finished materials. You can't beat a Volvo in terms of safety either.

Acura Tl.
Why .because the Volvo is not like it used to be especially now and don't forget Volvo is in Ford Motor Company.
And talking about Ford I don't think anything left to say and the fact that Ford wants to sell Volvo there has to be any bad reason because if they make good money from Volvo they wont sell it
Definitely go for Acura you wont be disappointed in all terms Acura is a better choice.

Personally I really like how the acura TL looks versus the volvo but it sounds like your parents have different opinions on which is more important . . saftey or luxury looks. . .
