the best way to get saved and show that you are serious, is to go forward at the end of the service and tell the pastor that you want to get saved, and ask Him/Her to pray with you.

You need to get Tim out of your thoughts long enough to decide if you want to commit your life to Christ. You mentioned that you are cleaning up your life because of new influences in your life, so that should help you decide which way you want to go, but make sure the commitment is to Jesus as your Lord, not Tim. Thank the Lord that you have not ran into a Jim Jones or his like. They would use your naivety to bring you into a cult. Stay away from green kool-aid from strange men, and God Bless You. P.S. The enlightened folks on here are telling you true, come as you are. His Blood paid the price, and you will be given a new heart, and He does the cleaning up!

It's never too late (or too soon!) to become a Christian. Good luck and welcome to our family. :-)
Also remember, if things with you and this guy don't work out, don't lose your faith... because becoming a Christian is the best thing that can happen to you. You're assured a place in heaven, with God, forever!
Don't do what so many people do: don't claim Christ and continue doing your life of sin. Actually repent and try not to fall into the same sins again and again. Live for Him! Live the way He wants you to!
If you need any prayers/resources, feel free to send me an email. Also, if you want, I'll pray for you.
Good luck!

I know you've gotten a lot of answers already, so you might not even read mine. But here goes anyway:
I commend you for changing your life already. That's wonderful!
However...it isn't we who change ourselves when we become Christians; it's God. God tells us what to change, and He is the one who guides us.
Secondly, it will mean NOTHING if you only pay lip service to Christianity. There are already MANY people who do that, and you know what they're called? Hypocrites.
If you believe in it, ask God to guide you into becoming a Christian. If not, maybe you need to work a little harder at finding out what to believe. It's better to be a sincere agnostic or atheist than an insincere Christian.
Also, why would you want to deceive Tim? Think about it.
I am a Christian not only because I BELIEVE with all my heart, my soul and my mind, but because to me, God has been tested and tried and has shown Himself to me. I am a Christian because I've given EVERYTHING over to Jesus Christ, and I did so out of love for Him. Nothing else. If you've come to love Jesus, accept Him. If not, wait a little longer. It sounds like God is calling you. Wait until you hear His call clearly. You'll feel it on your heart.

It is never to soon to become a Christian!
I have been a Christian since I was nine years old. First it isn't about becoming a Christian just so you can date a guy at church. You should become a Christan because you want to come closer to god. And be saved by Jesus's blood. Because you can't become baptisted unless you have been saved. And if you don't become saved when you die you go to the h-e with the double hockey sticks. You probably need to talk to the pastor of this church that you are going to and he can help. Because in order to be saved you need to pray to god and admit that you have sinned. Then you need to ask him into your heart so you can be saved. And if you talk with the pastor he can help you do this.

Firt of all you need to make sure your not becoming a christian because of some boy. You only become a christian because of the Lord. If its over a guy then its false and you would be lying. For you must believe on the Lord with your whole heart. Not part on him and part on another guy.
You also get babtised after to you have been saved to show the public church that you have accepted the Lord.

Do you realise that becoming a Christian is commiting yourself to God not to that guy"?your Baptizm would be a public decleration of your dedication to God, dedicating your life to God is not just a casual thing, you are actually giving your life to God disowning yourself are you ready to do this?Only you can answer that.Wether or not you are ready to give up your way of life and start a new way of living. If you were getting baptized just to show you're a Christian that is not a very good reason, no I wouldn't think then that you would be ready in such a case.

Being baptized is a declaration of your willingness to follow God in your life. It is representative of "dying from this old life and raising to a new one" like the death and resurrection of Christ.
Becoming a Christian is a very personal choice, and not something someone else can tell you if you are "ready" for. None of us are perfect, and as the song goes "Come just as you are to worship"..God is the one who can change our lives, we come to Him as we are, and then our lives can be transformed.
It is not about being perfect first, since perfection is not exactly a goal any of us will ever achieve.
I would say pray and ask God if you are ready, and if you feel that you are, then take the steps to be with God. Which include confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus died for you 9and the world) to cover our sins. That He died and rose again.
Good luck in your journey, and God Bless

I think you should go to the pastor of your church and tell him exactly the truth including the bit about your boyfriend--and he will be able to give you good sound advice. When you talk with your pastor, it is held in confidence--so it will just be between you and the pastor. But I think you really should do that first before you make your ultimate decision. I am proud of you for changing that drinking behavior--Believe me--it is nothing but a demon on your back! And it is a very manipulative one, too! Dare to be different--don't always go along with the crowd--I know that acceptance is important--but sometimes it can really hurt you to do things for that purpose. God Bless You and I know God is watching over you! Also, don't forget to ask your pastor about baptism--he/she will go over all that it means.

You must believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord- and you will be saved- by the way, baptism, is an outward expression to an inward change. You do not need to "clean up your life" before coming to Jesus- come to Jesus and He will give you the strength to clean up your life. If you are only coming to Jesus to date this guy- that is not the right motive- because God will know that you really do not mean it- and anyway who says he will ask you out on a date anyway. God is the one drawing you to Himself- there is a verse in scripture that says, "today is the day of salvation". Admit that you are a sinner, like I did, and accept Christ as your Savior. and choose to live your life for His glory, even if that means Tim is not the guy for you.
