It has done this before but it would just come and go and was only first thing in the morning after waking up but now it continues on into the mid-morning.

No it isnt serious. You probably have TMJ disorder. Which is the jaw joint. I have it too. There is no cure for it (unless it is severe they do surgery). All you can do is ask your dentist for advice. Use hot or cold packs on it. Dont chew gum anymore. And rub your jaw several times a day.

Its TMJ. I have had it for years now. Both sides of my jaws pop and its annoying as hell. It doesn't usually hurt. Mine have done this for so long now, I dont notice it much anymore. It drives my family crazy. The dentist said the only thing I could do is have surgery to fix it and that was very painful and it still might not cure it so I guess we are just stuck with the cracking and poping... sorry for the bad news. If it hurts then you'll want to do something about it. My jaw cracks sometimes too. It never hurts me. I think it's from sleeping on the side of my face or resting my face on my hand that gets my jaw a little out of alignment, so it "cracks".

You have TMJ and you need to have an Occusal Night Guard made to wear when you sleep at night. Chewing gum makes it worse. It could become a problem if you don't have a guard made.

Actually yes, my friend had the same problem, and it got so serious they had to break her jaw and rewire it so that it woiuldn't wear down or something. You should consult a specialist

No. It is not serious. I get it regularly. It is probably that the jaw's lubrication is less. It will go.
