The wonderful thing about Kennels is that they are small. Dogs don't like to be where they have made a mess, they leave it and go somewhere else. Once the dogs realizes that it can't get away from that, it won't want to soil the area. They hate being confined and if the dog is not used to kennels they are going to put up a fight, but you have to be consistent. They are going to cry, whine, bay and make you feel like an awful person, but you really aren't torturing them; not physically or psychologically. This is especially great for puppies who start thinking of the Kennel as there bedroom, mine like to go and lay down in it even when he is allowed to be free. It is his personal space that we don't invade. However, you need to only put them in the Kennel when you are not around so it isn't a form of punishment.

Do NOT put him in a crate for punishment or anything along those lines. You should only crate when you leave the house or go to sleep.
What your grandmother's dog needs is obedience classes. As you said: spoiled. He thinks he is running the house and he now knows that is he cries or barks or bugs you enough, he will get whatever it is he is wanting.
Training (and preferably some exercise like going on walks) is your best bet. No need to kill a dog because he isn't acting the way you want. It is usually us humans that is ruined the dog in the first place.

Dogs can grieve just like a human can. When you leave the house do not leave him loose in the house. Get him a dog kennel box and put him in there while you are gone. The kennel should be no bigger than it would allow him to turn around. It should solve the soiling the house while you are away.

quit being so paranoid, she only appears like she has a damaging concern of human beings.. She's only uneasy. you are able to permit your daughter round her decrease than consistent supervision, yet by no ability leave the youngster in on my own interior a similar room because of the fact the canines, or a room the place the canines can get entry to. canines react to infants a lot in any different case than they do to adults, sometimes they misread a baby's strikes into something comparable a littermate or domestic dog might do. i've got seen canines get alongside superbly with infants, yet by no ability leave your baby unsupervised. EVER.

I suggest they crate this pet if they have to leave. It won't hurt anything but will save the home. Put a chew bone and a soft something to lie on in the crate. Maybe a small blanket type item with the owners scent on it will comfort the pet while they are gone and crated.

Put him in a cage or kennel with a towel. I work with trainers a lot, so this is our method. It usually works. You just have to give it a little time to kick in. It won't work immediately. But he will realize that it is not okay after a few tries.

Invest in a crate. Crate him when you leave. Otherwise prepare to have your life run by a dog.

i think you need to treat this dog like you'd treat a sad human - spend lots of time with him, pet him/hug him a lot, be nice to him, let him spend time with you - he's grieving the loss of his best friend, and he's sad!!! the fact that you say he cries if you just mention the other dog's name, that says a lot (its also amazing that animals have emotions so similar to humans).

try to spend more time with it. it has probably gotten lonely without the other dog to hang out with it, so its family should just give it more attention and affection or get a playmate for the dog.
