I'm not too sure what's going on with my emotions. Lately it seems like every time I hear an even some-what depressing song or see a slightly emotional part on a TV show, I cry my eyes out. It's been happening for the past few months and it's getting to be more annoying than anything. At first it felt good to let loose and just have a few good cries, but the headaches afterwards are getting old. On average, I'm crying about three or more times a week. That's not counting when I get teary eyed and hold the tears back which is almost daily. Has any one else experienced this?

Also, as a matter of clarification, I'm not pregnant.

I figured I'd add this: I'm 21 years old. As I said before, I know I'm not pregnant. This has been going on for quite a few months and if it were because of pregnancy I'd have a great big belly by now. Also, obviously I'm no where near menopause.

You may be in a state of depression. I started doing that and got on Prozac which stopped the excessive crying jags. I am on a light dose and it has helped greatly.

I had exactly the same thing. It kept happening and I just thought I was feeling low because I'd had a very difficult and traumatic few years. I kept bursting into tears in public places, which was most out of character for me. And it felt like I was crying for no reason.
Then it got worse, until I was literally sitting at home and crying every single day. I felt as if I'd never stop crying! And it was this, as well as other things, that forced me to accept that I was suffering with depression.
I would suggest you go and see your doctor, and for starters, have a full set of blood tests - just to rule out any physical cause for your sadness. If you have underactive thyroid, for instance, it can mimic depression.
Clearly you are feeling very sad - whether you actually have depression or not, I can't say, but you can read up about it and see if you recognise the other signs.
Ask your doctor to refer you for counselling so that you can get to the bottom of why you're so tearful. If counselling doesn't seem to help, then there are anti depressants.
I tried many different 'natural' remedies to help me, but nothing did, and ultimately I've had to start medication just in order to function normally.
Do go to your doctor, and do know that this problem won't last - there is lots of help out there for you! Perhaps you could also confide in a good friend or relative about how low you're feeling.
You should also consider whether you have some type of hormone imbalance; is it possible that you're experiencing extreme PMS? Keep a record of how you are each day and see if any pattern emerges.
Hope you feel better soon.

I do that too. I just thought I was "sensitive" until one day my sister told me that to go and cry for three hours because of something insignficant, like, you know, running out milk or something was not normal. Sometime I weep for the state of the world. I often wonder what's the point.
My doctor says it's PMDD (premenstrual dystopia disorder) and put me on a generic Prozac, which, I'm not too crazy about. It's not like PMS. It comes and goes, but is always there, underneath. It is hard.
It sucks. People think it's their fault and think they can make you feel better. You feel guilty for not being more fun and carefree. You don't want to leave your house. EVERYTHING makes you cry. There's no point to anything. Lots of bad poetry and old, sad jazz.
Good luck. Music and friends make me feel better, but not all the way. I just know that it's a part of me, and part of what makes me who I am.
Let me know if things work out for you, or if you want to talk. Martine_everhart (at the yahoo.com ) is my address.

Please don't develop it into a habit . You're completely sound ans safe . You only feel some sort of depression due to a certain situation imposed on you without being aware of it . In order to get rid of that , just forget it and never think of it at all . Sometimes we find ourselves surrounded by hardships ;therefore, we tend to express our rejection through this kind of crying you're talking about .
