Years ago I used to bicycle from Monterrey (Park Avenue) to Fort Ord (and beyond) and back. One the ride back one day i stopped at a bar on the road into Monterrey... I wanted a cold one. The bar tender told me to pull one out of the fridge... and it was the coldest just before freezing beer I'd ever had in my life. It was so cold I thought I was going to die. The beer was perfect.... Every time on the ride back from Ft. Ord i could see that beer in front of me, drawing me towards it, wanting me chug it so fast that my head would explode. Ah, better than bread it was.

annoyed as beer tastes best just freezing but below room temperature. The colder the temperature the more you lose the natural flavours.

I once had a beer that was served so cold that some of it turn to ice, if I wanted a lollipop I would have asked for one.

having seen you've just answered my last question. Have I set an image in your head that you can't let go of. I take it you will be stopping of at the pub in a few hours time. Savouring that cool lager taste, sipping that amber nectar through the frothy head of a tall sparkling glass.

It makes me think that I should be driving an Austin K2 ambulance from Mersa Matruh to Alexandria before I deserved it.

It also makes me glad that I am not speaking German.

Thank you Desert Rats.

That would be so nice if it was hot and sunny at the moment where I am (it's miserable at the moment) and if it were pretty much anything except beer...coke or a nice cocktail or something maybe, I don't like beer.

Ice cold beers are only sold in the United States by the megabreweries. These breweries know that their beers taste terrible at cellar temperatures. By serving them ice cold, it numbs your tastebuds, so you can't taste how bad they really are.

Makes me want to get a cold drink of some sort, but not beer. i don't like beer because it is a heavy and thick liquid and it doesn't really quench your thirst. alcohol in general is not good for me. i avoid it. alcohol is a depressant.
