You can put any name you want on the kennel club registration. They don't care what it is, really.

AKC does not allow two people to have the same registered kennel name, but to get a registered kennel name you must breed so many dogs in such a short time that most reputable breeders do not register their kennel name (but it's still gauche to take somenes kennel name). Try going to www.akc.org in the store there is a FREE lookup of a dog by the name - put in your dream kennel name & the breed you are involved in if someone is using it you should get a list of names - remember to try it with or without an s at the end and with any possible variation of spelling. Now if you want ideas for the kind of things used - try checking show results either on AKC or infodog.com , the breeders reference list for either site may be useful too....
PS remember there is a letter limit on length of the entire name so a loooong kennel name limits fruther puppy names expecually if you cobreed a litter and need two kennel names

If you mean, the owner of a registered affix, there is a publication you can buy from the Kennel Club which lists all affixes.
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/371
If you just want to register your dog, the form tells you all about it, you can give an alternative & tick the box so that if neither name is suitable, you can have a 3rd or 4th choice.

You have to give a selection of 3 and the Kennel Club tells you what one you can use, I didn't get my first choice but I now am used to the one I was told to use. Its Tanglehar, and any pups we have are all registered with the Tanglehar affix. IE Tanglehars miss mischief or Tanglehars Highland Laddie.

My German Shepherd is called 'Columba' at home, but when I wanted to KC register him I was told 'Columba' was a name that was already owned (I couldn't use it either as a prefix or suffix). So they helpfully suggested that I call him by his home town's name plus something else that would mean something to me.
He's registered as 'Ballymena Francis' - doesn't mean much but it means we can compete (badly) in obedience shows! I know others in our club are: 'Cheeky wee rogue' 'Gemini Julie'.
Good luck if you're KC registering to compete in obedience - it's great fun and a great opportunity to bond with your dog.

Actually they do care what it is. Read the registration form for the rules. You cannot use a several words..."champion" is one of them, no vulgar words and it has to be a certain length. That's basically all, but I know I'm missing a few. I would read the rules and restrictions so you don't get rejected.

Contact the AKC to find out the paper work that will be needed... It can be extensive plus they now require DNA tests on imported dogs.
