I do all 3 things. Some music I download for free, some I pay to download and I am buying some CD's.

i used to just download them but now i use itunes and buy cd's occasionally i'll get a cd from a friend either way its all the same the music industry doesnt lose that much...sheesh

I buy CDs (sometimes used) because that gives me more control. I rip them to one computer in high quality MP3 format to listen to on the computers, and convert them to AAC so I can store my collection on my iPod for playing in the car and at the office. If anything happens to my hard drive, I still have my original media (which I also listen to around the house).
