Is the medical community just enjoying profiting from people's illnesses?

Many have been. There used to be no such thing as antibiotics or vaccines. When one major disease is cured there is ALWAYS another disease to replace it. Are you expecting the medical community to be able to wipe all disease off of the face of the earth? Why don't you get yourself some medical training and start helping to accomplish that goal.

Major medical diseases have not been cured because there is no long lasting profit to be gained from a permanent cure.

In addition, cures are being sought for in the wrong way.

Attacking the symptom instead of the cause of the symptoms will always lead no where in the search for cures.

Disease is a symptom and not the cause. It often results from a violation of the laws of health. The body has the ability to heal itself if assisted in its efforts.

The true cure for the 3 major diseases of modern America, (heart disease, cancer and stroke) is in lifestyle habit change.

And as personal change is not always very appealing to human nature, cure often appears elusive.

The "cure" for disease is education and application. Teach people how to live in harmony with the laws of health and the search for magic bullets and shortcuts will come to an end.

Persuade human beings to live in harmony with what they learn and permanent cure is possible.

Whoa-

There are a few major diseases that have been cured--look up small pox, polio, peurperile fever. Others that plague underdeveloped parts of the world, are non-existent in industrialized countries--cholera, chagas disease, typhoid, botulism.

Other, more "modern" diseases, like AIDs and Diabetes, have gone from being short-term death sentences to diseases that patients can live with for DECADES.

Now, the pharmaceutical industry is a very big business with lots of money to be made, but to claim that the medical community is enjoying profiting from people's suffering and death is a little much!

Actually, there is no cure for leprosy and people still catch it from time to time. The FDA recently approved the use of a drug called Thalidomide for the "treatment" of some of the effects of leprosy. This is the drug that causes horrible birth defects (it used to be given to women for nausea) but considering that lepers aren't probably not planning to get pregnant the FDA decided it would be ok to use it for leprosy. It does not cure the disease. It just eases some of the symptoms.

However there are about 14 diseases that are considered to be "cured."

Also, diseases like Scurvy, Beri Beri and other nutritional deficiency diseases have been cured because it was discovered that those nutrients exist.

Other diseases, like heart disease and Type II diabetes, are considered to be "metabolic disease" which means the body isn't working correctly. Those are regarded by medical research as lifestyle diseases, so they're not "curable" by Western Medicine though they are managed through the use of drugs.

Don't forget that it was quite recent when polio was eradicated with a vaccine. Small pox shots are not even given in CA, anymore, because my generation was immunized against it. Those were very large diseases to get rid of. Now, children even get vaccines for chicken pox.
It is sad that HIV and AIDS are NOT among the list of 'old' diseases. Another problem, is that the medical people keep changing the names of things. Take MRSA, a really dangerous, contageous staff infection.........it took me a while to realize that the blisters it forms all over one's body are actually impetigo sores! Impetigo is highly contageous and an awful condition to have. When MRSA is TREATED with impetigo meds, it seems to get better a lot faster!

NO, but major illnesses in my belief are a strong and urgent indication that one's life style need to be altered deeply...! This is what all old medicines (Chinese, Arabic, Indian...) teach! I have personally witnessed a woman who healed from cancer after western medicine had given up on her by returning to the traditional Arabic medicine... the trick is in the approach!

Why don't you cure cancer then, and show the world how easy it really is.
