This came through the Catholic system, Every Apostle that baptized & all that was baptized was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the only redemptive name there is, Jesus said whatsoever ye do in WORD or DEED(baptism) do it ALL in my name. Father, Son, & Holy Ghost is not a name but titles to a name. I promise you if I wrote you a check out & sign the check as father, son, & holy ghost, not even my bank will cash it for you, why, Because father, son & holy ghost is not names, But if I sign my name to it, they will instantly cash it.

Because they do not have a revelation to who Jesus Christ really is.
The Apostles received a revelation to who Jesus Christ was. As a result, they baptized thousands in Jesus Name.
Isaiah 9:6 is still true.

Some Christian denominations believe that there are three aspects of God: the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost/Spirit. These are basically equivalent to the three aspects of humans: body, mind, and soul.
So when you baptize someone in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, you are baptizing them in Christ's name.

Jesus isn't God. He never claimed to be, and the Bible never said he was.
Jehovah (YHWH, whatever you'd like 2 call Him) is God Almighty. No beginning no end, etc.
Jesus Christ (the Word, Immanuel, Michael the Archangel) is the 1st of Jehovah's creations and the only one directly created by Him. All other things came into existence by means of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is not a person, but Jehovah's active force. This is the means by which he accomplishes his motives. Notice that the Holy Spirit, important though its role is, is never given an actual name (because it's not a person). Jehovah used the Holy Spirit to enable Jesus to create the heavens and earth. He also used the Holy Spirit to raise Jesus from the dead.

Because there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost/Spirit. We baptize in the name of the Holy Trinity because Jesus told us to do so. John the Baptist was baptizing the name of YHVH only until Jesus had him baptize Himself and told John to begin baptizing people in the name of the Trinity. A dove appeared above Jesus then and the voice of the Father said that "this is My Son".

The three are one. It is called the Trinity, the father is God, the son is Jesus and the Holy Spirit is the comforter that He promised He would leave with us. See Mattd answer, much better explained

Many people argue that point, Spitfire:
But most immerse in the trinity's name because Jesus said: Teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Fathere, Son and Holy Spirit.
That wording was generalized to mean baptized into Jesus, but they still spoke the trinity. Why?
Because God is one. The Hebrew word Elohim, who created Heaven and Earth, is a plural noun--like a "team" created us. Later we find El, singular, walking with Adam in Edem--that singular God is usually attributed to Jesus, our Creator.

GREAT Trinity question! Jesus is NOT God Almighty. He is the Son of God. He is in the family of God which is composed of three beings....God the Father, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one as three members of a family are ONE. They are one in unity as the disciples were..."one" in unity. They were not all one person but had ONE purpose....which was to spread the gospel.

because they don't have the revelation of who jesus really is. and they don't understand that the scripture that says baptise them in the name of the father son and the holyghost means jesus. who is the father? jesus. who is the son? jesus. who is the holyghost? jesus. so the name is JESUS. i have scriptures that say that jesus is all of these things. god robed himself in flesh and came and dwelt among us as Jesus. when he tells the disciples if you have seen me you have seen the father. etc. etc. in the bible they baptised everyone in jesus' name. the catholics came up with the trinity.
