No where it is said in any re legion about decoration etc:
simple living and high thinking is the essential for a spiritual life
as you have said we are seeing many literates are doing this: this is because the fear of "god" with them and also show their richness to the public

It is an offering from the heart.... I believe people don't just donate to furnish a statue, it is usually done in conjunction with other kindly or charitable acts.
We each do what we feel is best, to the end... most of our actions Benevolent or Malevolent are laced with self-interest anyway... as long as people are happy dressing a statue... go ahead.... but since you do not, then do your part in feeding the poor, clothing the destitute as what Mother Teresa and so many have done.
What money people have is within their rights to do as they will... if we are going to rebuke others for their way of spending, then what about movies with huge explosions...each costing tens of thousands??? Why not put that into building better schools for example? You do watch movies don't you?
Bottom line, do what we feel is best for our heart and souls... what ever other people do, as long as it is not harmful... it basically is none of our business.

If having a faith makes you happy and heal your inner soul then its not a waste. Once your inner soul is unhappy you need to seek counselling or visit psychologist do you call this as a waste too?
Many poor are in this world and many are extremely rich they do not wear golden crown but they do crime against humanity by robbing poo rs further and who benefits from these kind of people only very few may be their immediate family members but with faith many souls in community gets benefit and healing. If you feel it is a waste of money, then certainly you should not do it. The people who do it believe that it is worthwhile, that those expressions of respect will bring them more than if they had spent the money on food.
When I was young, we had harvest festivals where we brought all sorts of good food and placed it on the altar, "giving it to God." But when the service was over, it was then given by the minister to the local orphanage.
Something in the Bible about what you do for the least of these . . .

People choose to worship in this way, People do make donations but really it is up to the governments to help the poor, Everyone pays taxes these should go to the ones that need it. Also look it is the way people are brought up and they are told this is how you worship and by giving to the gods you get blessed and are given a lot back.....

And there are numerous Republicans that are so hungry for potential, they'll toss their occasion for a promise to get in on the floor point of an all Democrat government.

Well, over decorate a statue it's a bit too far off.
Can the statue help you?
Can the statue talk?
Can the statue feed you?
Can the statue even walk?
Can the statue do miracles?

Faith keeps the world going around.
When one has faith in a deity he /she wants to appease them with gifts, at special occasions.
On the other hand millions are pumped to feed the poor but we still see hunger around , for you and me can feed the hungry for a day or a week at the most then the poor has to learn to get bread at the table for himself and his family.

There are many who ask that question. But Christians are split between those who think we should invest some resources in showing our admiration of the glory of God and those who think we should use all our resources to help the people of the world.
