Why should we pray to Mary?
You should NOT.
There is ONLY ONE Mediator between God and man and that is Christ Jesus.

I'm not Christian, but I can tell you that prayer isn't the same as worship. You worship God and Jesus, you call upon the Saints. The Christian theory is that all those Saints are hanging out up there watching over us and taking our calls. It's like a holy tech support staffed by Saints. People pray to them (each Saint having a specialty) to get help in the area that Saint specializes in.
Not praying to Mary isn't going to send you to hell. If you're Catholic, you might catch some heat, but I highly doubt it would be the heat of hell. Mary did pop out Jesus, so if you are all about Jesus, I can see that praying to his mom would be a good idea. Whether or not she was a virgin, or her mom was the virgin, probably doesn't matter. When you squirt out the Savior of mankind, you deserve some reverence.

Nowhere, even in any religion, does it say "Pray to Mary otherwise you will go to hell." Where did you get that IDEA from?
In regards to petitioning people, Saints, Mary, or friends, to pray for you, people ask for prayers all the time.
I hope this helped. It may help if you actually research the ideas before you try to blast them. Or at least humble yourself in your question to not think you came up with a witty strawman argument.

If you want a specific verse which says "thou shalt pray to Mary" it is not there. We Catholics ask for Mary's, and other Saints' intercession, based on the story of the wedding at Cana in the Gospel of John. The wedding host ran out of wine, Mary mentioned this problem to Jesus and Jesus took care of it.
Based on this Bible story we bring our troubles to Mary and she takes our troubles to Jesus on our behalf.
As others have said, we do not feel or teach that one must pray to Mary or go to hell.

I'll bet you do the same thing. Have you ever asked anyone to pray for you - to intercede before God on your behalf? That is exactly what many people ask of Mary. They petition the Mother of God to intercede for them before God himself.
You are committing grave sin, dear, when you mischaracterize the thoughts and actions of fellow believers. No one has ever told you that if you don't pray to Mary you will go to hell. And yet you mischaracterize the beliefs of millions of Christians on this forum? You are doing the work of Satan - you are tearing down, not building up, the body of Christ. May God have mercy upon you.

You are right. There is not one verse in the Bible that says we should pray to her. In fact, all we have to do is read the first 2 commandments. We are not to pray to worship anyone but God. Doing so is breaking the commandments.

Asking Mary to pray for our souls is not praying to Mary. It is prayer in The name of our Lord asking for her prayers. Nothing more.
The Bible teaches: Pray one for another.-James 5:16.
The other verses of the Hail Mary come straight from the first chapter of Luke. And as far as worshipping saints goes, it goes the same, they are only given honour, not worship.

You have never heard ANYONE say that you have to pray to Mary or you will go to Hell. You bear false witness. With all the troubles in the world, all the important things to think abut, why do you deliberately cause seek confrontation with other Christians on such a silly mater you really know the answer to already?

Caltholics, if I remember correctly, don't pray TO Mary, but in the name of Mary for intercession. Likewise, they pray in the name of certain saints for intercession regarding strength, wisdom, generosity and stewardship. I don't believe that it says in the Bible that we need and earthly intercessor, just the Son of Man, Jesus.

Why do people go to church? That's not in the Bible?
Why do people try to change the laws of their secular country to reflect their religion- that's not only NOT in the Bible, it's against what is in the Bible.
Why do people baptise their kids? Child baptism is not in the bible?
