I'm sure the wet food is more preferable to your cats; however, dry food is better for their teeth. It actually helps break up plaque build-up whereas the wet food can remain on their teeth and cause decay. Unless you are brushing your cats' teeth, you should definitely feed them some dry food daily. If they are hungry, they will eat.

I had this problem with my big guy. He was the only cat in the household so he got wet and dry food daily. When we got our second one we gave them wet food ocassionally. It's like a treat for them and they get really excited when the they hear lids popping or the can opener working. I give them wet food about three times a week. It was hard at first but my big guy eats the dry food a lot now. Just give it some time.

The cat will eat the dry food if nothing else is available. She might be hungry for a few days while she is protesting it, but eventually when she relizes it's that or nothing she will eat it and like it. It is the survival instinct. No cat (or human for that matter) is going to choose dying of hungar just because they don't like their food options.
I use dry food reguarly and wet food as a treat. Saves money and it is so cute when my cat relizes he is getting wet food, he goes crazy.

Have you tried soaking it in water? Alot of the times it is a texture thing. I would try to add something like salmon oil to entice her to eat it and slowly back up on the amount of both until she is eating only dry. As far as wet food is concerned: If she lived in the wild she would get 99% of her fluid intake from her prey, so don't be surprised that canned food is what she prefers. The canned food also retains most of the originial flavor of the meat along with the moisture ratio.

Female cats are like that; while my male cat will eat anything i set before him, my female acts like she would rather starve than to eat anything that is not what she normally eats. I was in the same situation as you; My vet told me to not let her have her way; she said to fill both bowls full of dry food and give her the oppotunity to eat if she wants. if she doesn't eat, that's her choice, but eventually she will have no choice but to stop protesting and eat because she's hungry. Which she did, a day later. Because my male cat is a voracious eater, my female cat had to learn to be more aggressive if she was going to get enough food to eat !

That doesn't really sound like you spoiled them is wet food better than dry food? Maybe your cats have just become accostumed. My two cats are totally different, they will only eat one type of dry food, any other dry food, they don't touch it, and they won't touch wet cat food either. Are my cats spoiled? I don't think so.

If she's hungry enough she will eat the dry food, but first try mixing the wet and dry together and then slowly ween out the wet.

I think, Yes, you do spoil them, but don't worry...cat's know how to get to you...tricky little things.
I have five of them, and I had the same problem with the females, they get over it!
As soon as they realize that you're not giving in they will eat what's in front of them.

they might start eating the dry. after the moist scare, we don't give our cat anything but dry. as for spoling them, that is what a animal lover/pet owner does. we all spoil our pets. our cat is my four footed kid.
