I know this sounds weird but for some reason I have been having rectal pain and constant gas. It has only been going on for about 8 hours now but it just came out of nowhere. It hurts to sit down but once I do I'm fine. Same when I stand up...the first 10 seconds are very incomfortable but then Im fine. Just want to get an idea of what this might be to prevent a trip to the doctor.

Sounds like it could be the development of a hemorrhoid. Take a look in the mirror and see if you have anything protruding. The extra gas could be because your constipated and the extra pressure often leads to hemorrhoids!

It could be something you ate, or it could be constipation. Try drinking a large glass of water every 10 minutes for a half hour and see if that starts to move things along. If it doesn't help, you may need to take a laxative. There's lots of them to choose from at the store. Or you can get fiber like Metamucil.

The first thought is usually hemmorids, however check your calendar & see if you are due to ovulate...this happens to me quite often. I had no idea what it was until I started keeping track of the incidences and sure enough it was happening during ovulation (11-14 days after the first day of your period). The pain can be subsided with Advil.

Any bleeding?
This could be a sign of an impaction, when was the last time you had a bowel movement? If it has been a while it may be time to try your favorite laxative.
If bleeding occurs it is time to go to the doctor. Bowel perforation is nothing to ignore. Also if you have a fever you need to go to the doctor (over 100.5 F)

I agree with answerer Mrs. Brush. Get a fast acting laxative, or drink some coffee!! Coffee works believe me, its a natural laxative.
