Religious superstition is a dangerous thing that can cause violence, hardship, racism, ethnic cleansing, and intolerance for generations to come. It causes disputes that would otherwise be easily worked out, but instead foments them into unresolvable festering wounds on society.

More than I could possibly write and probably more than I have yet to learn. But what I have learned is that there is only one true God, Jesus Christ. Settling for anything else is following false God/ idols . The generation of the Israelites in the book of Judges abandoned the faith of their parents and began worshiping the gods of their neighbors. Lesson: the desire to be accepted in the eyes of others can lead you into behavior that is unacceptable to God. Don't be pressured into disobedience. Lesson #2. God's punishment may be slow coming, but He will judge evil. For He allowed the Israelites to be punished by their enemies. Lesson #3. our sins ( Israel's sins ) provokes the Lord to anger. Anger, in itself, is not sinful. The Lord's anger is due to His Holy nature. But even in His righteous anger towards sin, He also shows His love and mercy towards sinners. As we see He does this for Israel by providing them Judges to deliver them from their oppressor's. Jesus Christ is our Deliverer.

Hopefully many things, but mostly that if some peripatetic 'God' stumbles into your lives, and offers to make you his 'Chosen People', get a firm contract in writing that specifies exactly what you are being chosen for !
