I am pretty sure that there is "something" else in my house aside from my family, and other than a few other instances is is fairly innoculous. I have heard wisperings in the basement from time to time, I would be in the living room, and hear very soft mumbled canversations coming up through the floor, I occasionally see (for lack of a better term) a "shadow person" in the house, and on mostly feel as though I am being watched.
Last night when my wife and I got home from picking my son up from his grandparents house, he was there all weekend (he is almost 2 and this is the longest he has been away), she had already gone inside and I was getting Jack and his bag out of the car. I was carrying him as he was mostly asleep and I heard a whisper that sounded like it was inches from my ear that said, "Welcome back". Immediatly I got freaked out and looked for a possible source, but I was totally alone, and Jack was looking around too, so I know I wasn't halucinating.

I think that maybe I posted this in the wrong room, sorry.
No, I do NOT use drugs or alcohol. I have been off drugs for 8 years, and very rarely drink. Just for the record.

You might hate my explanation, but what you are experience is very common amongst the believers of Islam. In Quran it is said that GOD has created Jinn and Insan(Humans). Recently i found the meaning of Jinns. It means "The Spirits". Now i know why people get confused with ghosts. Because Jinn's are said to have to organic bodies...but created of energy in the form of fire. i know you wont believe me and i do not expect you to believe this. You can not see them ..yes you hear them, true. Consider yourself lucky, once you see them you keep seeing them and others wont unless the Jinns show them to others. It will get annoying because no one else will believe you. If you keep hearing their voices and they have not harm you yet and even welcomed you , it would mean that these Jinns are Good in nature. And i belive if they ever try to communicate you, behave good with them and not be afraid. My frined there are lot to this universe and not all religion has the knowledge to explain them. If you can, i suggest you get a copy of Quran and the explanations with it. You will find the informations on Jinn. Oh by way they can take the form of any organic creature, so incase you see them changing from on creature to another dont be surprised, they do that to make fun of us or scare us lol. I dont think these Jinns would. If you can go down in the basement and ask them which religion are they from , because it is said that among Jinns there are also many religions. If you want to contact me my id is s2a_s3z on yahoo messenger.
Now you can through rotten eggs at me...just kidding. But bro if you need any more infos you know where to find me. Yahoo ofcourse.

you will probably get a better response from paranormal (science and maths section) or mythology. here is probably used more for christians and athiests to tease each other.
I actually believe you when you say that your house is haunted by something. unless people actually have these experiences they tend to scoff. i have had experiences with spirits both good and not so good. get the history of your house. what you describe as a shadow figure is very common and many people on the paranormal and mythology section have described them. I believe there are many different types of entities that haunt - and not just the spirits of the dead. There is a great book that I picked up at a garage sale called : Daimonic Reality a field to the otherworld written by Patrick Harpur.
This book describes all sorts of paranormal creatures and i am sure if you look on the internet you wil find something about different entities.
Ok so now you have to ask yourself thi question: are you threatened by the spirit/entity? Does it freak you out? Is it menacing to you, your wife and child? If the answer is no dont worry about it but if you "feal" that it is menacing then you may want to get a spiritulist in to help send the whatever it is to the light. I dont think you are hearing things as I said the shadow entity is quite a common experience in hauntings and its not necessarily a bad thing but in your case it could be you dont tell me much. Also young children can bring these spirits "out" and cause them to be more active simply the innocence and youth and life of a young baby can manifest these entities and these etities can be drawn to the essence of a baby or young child. Only you will now how you feel and what your wife and you intutively feel. I am not an expert to these things only what I have read and posted (read my best answers) and my questions on the paranormal and my own experiences. Take care trust your own experiences.

I don't ususally hear voices. I hear music. Usually when something else is making noise, like a fan. Occasionally I will hear voices, but it's like they are talking through a long corrugated tube, and it's very garbled.
Once I heard calliope music as clear as day and a circus barker calling the guests to the circus. Hubby was not watching anything similar as I asked him about it later.
I think some people are just tuned in to things that others can't see or hear. As long as they are not threatening, there should be nothing to be afraid of. In fact, you may want to try and talk to them to find out who they are and why they are with you and your family. The more you understand them, the less fearful you will be.

Your brain tries to make patterns from randomness. Sometimes it interprets these patterns wrong. That is why we can look at clouds and see faces or bunnies. Or we see human forms in the fog and hear footsteps in the dark.
When we are alone at night we naturally have a heightened sense of awareness, and our perception will tend to interpret anything we see or hear into something familiar. We will sense human voices, footsteps, or human figures because those are familiar. This causes us to be afraid which simply increases our sense of awareness.
What we perceive is not what is actually out there, it is our brain's interpretation.

Well, seems this is harmless poltergeist...
talking serious, some families lived with poltergeists for years and became their friends, I don't ask you do that, seek an exorcist to clean your house.. or just play on a tape "The Cow" Surah of the Quran.
It is sure that every exorcist is a priest but not every priest is an exorcist...

Very interesting.
Are you right with God? If you aren't do so. Do you frequently do drugs or alcohol? Then stop. You need to get back into the word of God and start praying. Asking God to send his holy Angels to your house (every night pray this) to get rid of whatever it there. There is no such thing as a harmless poltergeist! It is either a demon or a unsaved spirit. There is not in between. If one is right with God they are in heaven, 'To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord." If that thing you saw was a shadow it is prob. a demon. I saw that shadow thing once.
Get yourself back in church. A bible believing church and ask for prayers.
I was having troubles with this sort of thing for awhile. I even saw a few. There was more than one. After prayer they went away. BUT I pray most every night for God to protect my house and my family and he has!
Are you a Christian?
e-mail me if you wish.
I'll pray for you and your family right now!

It sounds as if you have a friendly ghost! Such instances have been heard of before. You do not say how old your house is . Perhaps there is a story attached to it.

You know, I wish I could belittle your claims -- but the very same thing has happened to me and I felt exactly as you did. therefore, given the facts and my experiences I would have to say I don't think you're crazy -- and sure enough you may be hearing things ... just like I did.

could be your neighbors...in my old house I would hear things....it's b/c my basement was attached to the neighbors... and the wall didn't block out all of the sounds...
or it could be an inprint...I hold my breath & hear breathing even when no one is in the house....b/c that is an everyday sound

You know, 2000 years ago when people heard things in their heads, other people thought they were talking to God.
Strange that by today's standards, those people would be considered a little loony...
