Has you or anybody you know visited Haiti recently? I would like to go there, but is it as bad as the government makes it sound? Also, where is a safe place to stay?

I have a Haitian background, and my grandmother goes to Haiti every year., and she comes back in one piece, I heard that it is not safe, but all places in the world have crime, and some bad parts. So you can go visit, stay in the city parts. One thing it breaks my heart to hear people saying negative things about Haiti. I mean come on it's not that bad.

Nobody I know has ever went to Haiti. If you're considering going there, I'd say don't go. That place is not good. There are lots of poor people and shanty towns. The government is corrupted and I think there are riots there. It's isn't really safe. This is from what I have seen on the news...If you want to go somewhere in the Caribbean then there are better options to choose from. You can go to The Bahamas, Barbados or Tobago. Those are lovely islands. By the way, I'm from Trinidad....another Caribbean country lol.

I recently went to Labadee Haiti and it was beautiful but i was on a royal carribean cruise and i think they rent part of the island so that part is safe but i'm not sure about the rest of haiti, the people there are very poor. I would check into it before you go, might be kinda dangerous. Not sure thou.

Haiti is a terrible place. Very dangerous to go there- stay away. With all the other beautiful islands in the Caribbean, you can surely find somewhere else to go.

I´m a tour operator and if you stay in Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) you can visit Haiti from there. But to stay NO!
I strongly advise not to do it.
