A pretty imported Italian sport car like that...won't be pretty after a police chase.
Besides why do you need a muscle machine like that, you already have a BIG gun, what are you over-compensating for?

Because most cars in America have chips that shut the car down at a high rate of speed, 110, 120, 140. I have never driven a NEW (1990-present) stock vehicle that can do over 140. So buying a lambo would be a waste of money.
But lets pretend a lambo is chasing a street bike the street bike still wins. Lets pretend that someone bought the super chips for their Mustang and it can now do a top speed of 160 the police interceptor can keep up. Now lets consider that this police lambo is on the other side of town, it doesn't matter if the car can travel at 210 mph if it is stuck in gridlock.
The bottom line is it is pointless.

One thing you won't see in most large American urban areas is high performance cars like Mustangs, Avenger SR8, Corvettes or Vipers mainly due to budget issues and practicality. In most cities you don't need something that can blow the doors off of all challengers because they usually have enough Crown Vics and/or Impalas/Intrepids to box in the bad guys - radios are still faster than even the fastest cars. So fast supercars aren't practical.
Another factor is overall cost, those types of vehicles are simply not cost effective for a large police department to operate. They get half the gas mileage of their current counterparts. Parts are more expensive and more difficult to replace. And those exotics simply can not handle the day to day abuse of the city streets.

Several practical reasons:
1.) The added cost is incredible; no way, every department would have less units on the road and eventually go broke.
2.) Have you ever tried to get a 300-pound man into the back seat of a Lamborginni or a Mustang? HA! Agencies using Mustangs only use them as chase vehicles and traffic units (traffic stops = tickets, not arrests). The Crown Victorias and Caprices do the job wonderfully, they have great horsepower, room for equipment, second officers, and prisoners.
The new Dodge Chargers are out, but so is the verdict on how well they withstand the beatings and daily demands cops put in on them.

In most situations police chases cannot even break the speed limit, so why would they need this?
Despite this, many areas are using things built on the new Chrysler 300-a county around here is using Chargers, another has a Magnum.
The Highway Patrol here has Camaros--many officers hate them because of how they feel at high speeds compared to the Crown Vics.
North Carolina has many unmarked cars that are muscle cars.
Maybe youre just not seeing them?

2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor: $23,000
Mobile Data Terminal: $3,000
Motorola Radio: $1000
Uniden Bearcat Scanner: $750
Unitrol for light controls: $500
Federal Signal LED Lightbar: $1000
Labor to put all of that stuff together: $1500
Total Cost: $30,750 x 15 cars = $461,250
Basically, you could afford 15 fully equipped vehicles for the cost of one Lamborghini. Some agencies, like the California Highway Patrol use the Chevrolet Camaro for commercial vehicle enforcement.
Also, you can't transport prisoners in a Lamborghini.

Some police depts do have some muscle cars, but no city council or mayor is going to allow a Lamborghini's!
I think most of the time, in crowded areas, the police will break off a chase as policy. Usually nothing good comes of them!
Total waste of money!

The CHP had Mustang 5.0's for awhile, and a couple of Supercharged Camaros as well.
I would sign up for another 20 years if it meant driving a Lamborghini. Could you make mine a Countach, please?
Don't know where I'd put my arrestees - but we would work something out!

No. You walk out of roll call and take the car that is assigned to your patrol sector, or the next one available in the motor pool. A large group of new cars is purchased every year or two, and new cars are rotated in, and the old ones rotated out.

These things are two seaters right?
So.... a female suspect in the passenger seat. And if she so happens to be a hot baywatch-type babe and in a skimpy swimsuit, so much the better! I'd sign up for that. I mean the police academy that is....I don't look very good as a suspect in a thong. http://www.borat.tv/ms_blog/cannes.jpg
Be glad for what it is.....just a impractical fantasy my friend.
