My dad has a mental illness and he enriched my life today by at least talking with me even if he wasnt all there for me. A bunch of my friends have mental illness's and I talked with a couple today and they enriched my life by helping me with poetry, art, and enjoying a movie.

My mom has battled depression but she has raised two well-educated children and supported her grandchildren and other youth through teaching. She still finds the strength to do thoughtful things like by a kind card or even buy me a cake for my birthday even when it is not my favorite flavor. Her love enriches my life everyday because it is easy to show kindness when you are well, but much more difficult when life is hard.

Of course Not. Mental Illness is no different than physical Illness. During a persons life time, they will experience some level of Mental Illness. Depression, Anxiety and certain behavior problems. The treatment of Mental health disorders has made great strides in the past few years. Many Myths have been dispelled concerning Mental Illness disorders. People are no longer considered Touched today, as they were years ago. Winston Churchill suffered from Chronic Depression. Mike Wallace, The 60 Minutes Anchor, suffered a near fatal depression. Can any one argue that repeated exposure to Combat in war can produce a delayed Post traumatic syndrome disorder. If you are asking, if anyone has ever used Mental Health issues as an excuse...sure. No different than some person using a Physical problem as an excuse. But, we all know that excuses only last a short time. Good Luck to you.

i used to work for a mental health facility and my job was to help severely and persistently MI patients enter the workforce. i had one lady who was accepted into training, and eventually employed, as a PCA at a nursing home. she went on this schpiel in group therapy that week about how i had supported her and such, and i BAWLED through the whole thing. such a doll.

I attended a morning Melodies show with an Elvis clone singing and these people from a home were up and dancing I think they looked truly beautiful and happy .~~
