People who call the church of Christ a "cult" usually do not know very much about the church.
Sometimes they just know what someone else has told them about the church and they have not investigated it for themselves.
Sometimes people result to such labels (name calling) when they disagree with a particular doctrine, or set of doctrines, and they are unable to defend their own position. Either the evidence is overwhelming (and no one likes to be wrong) or they just lack the knowledge to express their own view in a more logical fashion.
Sometimes people call the Church of Christ a "cult" because they have confused them with other groups.
Please do not confuse the Church of Christ with the "International Church of Christ", the "United Church of Christ", the "Boston (Boston movement) Church of Christ" or the "Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints (Mormons)" These are not the same and they teach things that are drastically different.
Please investigate the Church of Christ! Compare it to the Bible!

The Church of Christ is the Mormons, right? The Church of Christ of the Latter Day Saints, I think that is what they call themselves, may not classify as a cult. i don't really know what does or does not. But they are a very large religious group, with many members and I think their religion is stupid and sexist.

A local Baptist minister here in Amarillo calls the Church of Christ a cult. Of course, he's a nut.

1. A particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. An instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers.
3. The object of such devotion.
4. A group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. A group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.

I do because anyone who chants, prays, recites written texts over and over, and speaks to the dead and perceived undead as a form of ritualistic behavior is a member of a cult.I do because any group that considers itself to have all the answers in the form of the divine is a cult.I do because any group that says it maintains morality only through belief is a cult.So, I do.
