I am thinking of naming him Bob.

Are you sure you want to risk not believing in Bob?

I just saw something good in your response, hunter621.
"Or serving meals to the elderly or homeless, rather than making fun of people's beliefs."
Now, how about I stop making fun of Jesus, and you stop making fun of Bob, and we both go serve meals to the elderly and homeless?

"...that work of fiction has changed the world for the better."
Raiden, this would be true if the Bible admitted itself to be fiction, and nonetheless convinced people to be good without creating religious division and helping to start war after war after war...

Let me answer your question like this. Even if Jesus Christ is mythical, and the Bible a work of fiction, that work of fiction has changed the world for the better.
P.S. Yes, the Bible has been the cause of many wars. But it's a fact that more "Christians" have been executed for their beliefs than any other group.
Guess what, we're still here.

Not hardly, because the one I follow lived, died and rose again from the dead, which is very well documented in history (even from non-biblical sources) and archaeology. By the way, the number of atheist who have set out to disprove the resurrection of Christ and ended up becoming Christians is an ever growing testimony of the only true savior of mankind, Jesus Christ. I'm just wondering, are you sure enough of your beliefs to find out such a truth for yourself. Hope you have a great night.

You ended your question with this:
Are you sure you want to risk not believing in Bob?
My response: I feel very comfortable in not believing in Bob.
Can you pray to Bob and receive inspiration? --No (because you made him up)
Has Bob established a true religion that still flourishes 2,000 years later? --No (because you made him up)
Did Bob sacrifice his life to save us? --No (because you made him up)
Perhaps you could spend your time doing something productive, like reading the Bible and learning about Jesus Christ.
Or serving meals to the elderly or homeless, rather than making fun of people's beliefs.

Your question starts with a big "IF", so IF you were able to create someone that was 2000 years old then it would be worth looking into, except that you also said it would be mythical, which removes any validity to your "creation", so the answer is "No".

well Bob need to have hundreds of prophecies fulfilled first. Bob needs to be validated by historians as existing. Bob needs to be witnessed by followers that believed him so much that they were willing to die rather than deny he was a hero. He needs to live a sinless life and come from a virgin birth. He needs to perform miracles that were witnessed by thousands and not refuted. He needs to be considered a Good man by even the people that don't believe him and hate him. Thanks, sometimes I don't really think about how amazing Jesus was!!!

Build a time machine, and convince God to let you die for some reason. Then I MIGHT believe you.
Then Bob jumped in front of the chariots and saved Jesus...-Bob 19:99.

stable question...yet you may desire to slender the term "Christian" down... Catholics and Protestants are the two reported as Christians. yet purely one is a real Christian. Christian in its literal experience potential follower of Christ. Protestants journey that definition greater helpful then Catholics do, and your referred to reference with regard to the crusades proves my element. The Catholics have been those in touch in the crusades, no longer the Protestants... permit me ask you a query... Did Jesus ever pass around burning the churches and properties of those that did no longer have faith in him? Did Jesus pass around burning those that taught diverse then Him? Did Jesus pass around terrorizing all those that did no longer total-heartily save on with him? permit me answer those questions for you... NO HE did no longer! The Catholics weren't following the instructions of Christ while they have been in touch in the crusades and the inquisitions. They have been following the instructions and desires of their pope/leaders. The crusades have been fought on the whole by using knights who have been reported as upon to combat for the Catholic Church... It grow to be no longer a "Holy" war... It grow to be a war to earnings land and riches for the church. could they nevertheless be doing it immediately if there have been no rules against it? properly, i do no longer understand... in all risk... to no longer justify their movements, yet does not all and sundry be doing as they extremely joyful if there have been no rules against what they wanted to do. In precis... The Catholics fought the holy wars, no longer the protestants (genuine Christians). They weren't following the instructions of Jesus while they did combat those wars. human beings might desire to learn that there is a distinction between Protestants and Catholics. seem back into historic previous and you will locate that each and all of the brutality grow to be complete by using the Catholics. aside from some genuine Christians that have been harsh to those that disagreed with their teachings. Which, regardless of who does it, is faulty.

WOW! You must think you are real funny making fun of God, right? I love it when people that have NO clue about God and havent read the Bible try to make up their own theories. God has a sense of humor, but you are probably pushing it.
God wasnt made up just now, he was a living man, through Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. I really hope you will quit bashing religion and actually read a Bible. You are a very sad person.
I'm sure you will say that you have read the Bible, blah blah blah, just like most christian-haters, but obviously from your question you have NO CLUE!

Why don't you please read the Bible from cover to cover, and do so with an open mind and a heart that does not choose to mock. After you have done so, then ask this question again, because it is blatantly obvious that had you actually done this to begin with, the question would not have been asked.
