It depends on what kind of training. The official kind are called message therapists and some are even state approved so session can be claimed and health insurance will pay for it. To get insurance to pay, you clients will need a Physicians note.
A masseuse with about six months of training gets a per hour scale that charges the client between $25 to $40 an hour depending on the treatment
A message therapist with a State Lisence which you get when you complete a three year course from an accredited school get between $70 to $100 an hour. The massage therapy variety are trained how to deal with fibromaylgia and other conditions and have an accreditation get a lot of clients because it has been proved to alleviate temporarily fibromyalgia pain.
I suffer from fibromyalgia. A massuese does help a little but gives no significant relief. However a message therapist knows the human nervous system and follows the nerve patterns in your back front to message all the trigger points. When I go see the message therapist, I get a 90 percent relief of pain for about 24 and recuded pain for another 24 hours.
I now get disability payments from an insurance company, they only pay for 15 sessions a year and after that I have to pay out of my own pocket. Despite the fact the insurance company doesn't cover all the treatments I need, a question on their semi-annual survey paper I have to fill in to see if I am still disabled reads: "Has your pain for fibromyalgia been so intense that you needed to see a message therapist? If yes how many times since the last survey?
btw, the one I see has a home business and the treatment area in a large room in her house. Her appointment book is always full and she only likes to work 4 hours a day (each treatment is one hour long and for a higher price, she will to a hour and half session). Other massage therapists get eight clients a day so her yearly salary if she worked a full day $80 times 5 times 52. But because of the strenuous effort involved most message therapists don't work a whole 8 hour day or whole week, so in reality they earn $80,000, but business expenses also have to be paid for including a refresher course every two years, cleaning and laundry, insurance etc.

Figure on $60 an hour with about four massages a day, maybe five, and then figure if you want to work more than five days a week. You do the math.
