I haven't worked with Eagle, but Orcad and I guess there are some common mistakes. The most common mistake is assigning a wrong footprint to I.C package.

For example, consider an I.C ( Philips 8051 core) P89c51rd2BN - it is DIP40 I.C - you can't assign a PLCC footprint to it - You have to assign it a DIP40 300mil footprint. For PLCC footprint there shall be diffferent Schematic Library component i.e P89c51rd2BA - I hope you are getting my point??

Some libraries have generic components with no footprint associated to them and you define your own package - but nowadays all the components in schematic libraries have associated footprints !!!!!

so, check the component datasheet of your SMD device - see, in which package they are available - then check the component which you have picked in the eagle library and see the associated footprint - otherwise you will keep getting netlist errors...

Other errors could be track width, unassigned pin or power/gnd related pin errors. Sometimes - you have to create your own schematic component with footprint in the Package Library.

Go to their website and ask. I use an old copy of 'Tango' that does everything I need, and it's real easy to build library parts for either the schematic capture or the PCB layout sections.
