Yes. They are both illegal, as are any other street drugs that you can think of. There was talk at one time to make it not a crime. That isn't what you think. A cop would give you a fine, like a speeding ticket. And that could hit you in the right spot and get bigger results than the currents system. The current government isn't having any part of that though.
Most crimes in Canada get you less time than in the US.

I think you're asking if certain drugs that are illegal in the U.S. but legal in Canada. Both of them are illegal in both countries. But the police and government don't think they should be enforced as heavily in Canada. Most realize that weed doesn't have the severe negative conotations that certain media outlets suggest; so now the police will look the other way...confiscate what you have....or give you a fine...but usually no jail time.

I believe they are both illegal in Canada as well as the states, but the marijuana laws may be a little looser (not as harsh.)
