When ever i put the volume to the max on the side of the player, it gets louder but not loud enough. I tried using headphones instead of the built in speakers, but the volume still did no get loud enough. Can I buy some kind of small cheap amp to amplify the sound into my headphones? Help would be much appreciated.

A different pair of headphones might be more sensitive, and play louder.
Or you can get a pair of small amplified laptop speakers.

I have seen amplified headphones, I think they take batteries. I never bought any but I think in maybe Sharper Image?
Or possibly in Heartland?

Buy an AUX in component so you can hear your DVD player through your car speakers.

They sell some Stereo Head Units with built in AUX input for example, Sony Xplod CDX-GT71W.
