My boyfriend & I love to pack a picnic lunch, then hop on his motorcycle for an afternoon of riding. For those trips I make sub sandwiches, chips, cookies & we buy bottled drinks on the way out.......For a little nicer picnic, get some good french bread, hard salami, cheese, fruit & a nice bottle of wine.......Don't forget plenty of napkins!!

Picnics are meant to be simple, so dont worry about making it to complex. Depending on your age, wine is a good recommendation. But if you can't have wine then sparkling grape juice is recommended. Some type of sandwich is a good idea. If you are going to make it ahead of time, be careful with any wet ingrediants that you put on it because it will make the bread soggy. And then you need some type of side for your sandwiches. Potato salad is a good choice for a picnic, so i would stick with that. Chips could be nice too becaused they are easy. Just don't forget your blanket and it should go just fine.

there is nothing like "fried chicken" ....I think most people enjoy it hot or cold....you can make some neat little sandwiches too with creamed cheese spreads....that has veggies mixed into the cheese...or stuff celery with peanut butter .....have you heard of "tabouli salad" it's a great salad that has fresh taste to eat and easy to make the night before. It's bulghur wheat that you pour warm water over to make it light and fluffy...then you chop tomatoes , parsley, green or red onions ...or both....and cucumbers seeded and chopped....mix all this with the wheat..then make a dressing of lemon juice and olive oil add salt and pepper...garlic to taste and some fresh basil or dried oregano and basil...mix all this together and chill it's so healthy tasting love it...pack in plastic tub and keep cold. If you don't want to fry chicken....you can bake it buy the serving pieces you both like...and marinate it the night before...then bake it the next day....there are many choices of flavors...asian....italian...bbq......that is another thing if you think of a "theme"...then you can come up with lots of neat ideas....I love asian food....even though I'm italian...and can always come up with something from the Italian table...like bread , wine and salad...meat and fruit...for dessert....or make those girl scout treats...sa more's with graham crackers, marshmellows you roast and slide off onto the cracker and piece of Hershey bar....YUM.....he might enjoy doing that....lol...guys like to do something too...whatever you decide to make have a wonderful time..take pictures...and keep a journal so later in life you can read all about your wonderful picnic!....hugs from Mama Jazzy Geri

i like to change it up each picnic, but this is everything i made (the night before) for my last picnic...

sweet and sour pearl onions; cherry tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and marintated mushrooms; rosemary mixed nuts (super good); sweet, sour, and spicey cucumber salad on a bed of tomatoes; and a great salad of penne, chicken, green beans, roasted red peppers, and onion. we also picked up some pita and hummus and grapes, and fresh juices and iced teas.
