Who said the christain concept of god is what god really is. . I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. God is the energy in which all comes from. All must come from somewhere....rock, flesh and stuff. I tend to think are minds are not even close to capable of understanding tru meaning, its kinda like a dog trying add 2 plus 2.

Do you think you're the only atheist to try and use a Christian's own arguments against him? And do you think your examples of Christian arguments are really the most accurate examples, or did you just pick the worst ones. Because I've never heard or personally used any of them the way you did. Perhaps you've never debated an educated Christian on the topic. A little experience would teach you that there are perfectly intelligent people on both sides of this issue. Only the unseasoned atheist would disagree. Let me demonstrate.
1. Creation is not a scientific theory. It is a fact. It does not belong in a science classroom because no theory of origin can be accurately called 'science', including any evolutionary origin theory. Neither theory is observable or repeatable. The theories of origin belong in classes like "Intro to Scientific Thought", like some universities have done. But not in science classes.
2. The complexity of life in any form, including human, demonstrates design to me. It is illoical to conclude that randomness begets order. To assume that the multiplied millions of complex systems and organisms in existence today are the result of...absolutely nothing and no one, is farther fetched to me than suggesting God was the cause for it all.
3. You can't know that God is not real based on never having felt Him. But you CAN know God is real if you have experienced Him. It's like saying, "I've never gotten anything from Nelson Mandela, so he doesn't exist." That's nonsense. But I can say, "I've gotten a gift from Nelson Mandela, so he does exist." My point is, if you've never taken the journey, you can't share with me the experience.
4. This point just makes no good sense, and I've shown it to 5 people now. lol
5. Most Christians don't say, "How could you believe in evolution. It's just a theory." What we do say, though, quite frequently is, "How could you believe in evolution? It's already shown to be an inept and less than satisfactory theory for the evidence we have." (Of course, we know that the first debate between us is over the evidence itself, then the theory.)
6. The Bible speaks about real people, places and events and dates many of those events within an historical framework. The New Testament especially reads not like myth at all, but like recorded history. In fact, if we use the rules of textual criticism consistently across all ancient documents, we find the Bible to be some of the most reliable historical documents of antiquity.
7. The main problem with these objections is that you assume Christianity to be false a priori. In other words, you are coming from an anti-Christian bias to begin with.

1. I never used this arguement in my life.
2. Same with this one
3. I have used this arguement before unfortunately but latter I realized that doesnt help because athiest have no relationship with God and cannot understand the awesomness of it. I don't feel "it" in my heart. I feel God IN my life. Until you are willing to except his existence and his love for you, you will never feel God.
4. I do not and have never thought athiests were evil. Athiests are just misguided. I am sorry if anyone professing to be a christian has called you that.
5. Yes the big bang is a theory and so is evolution. I have no problems with theories. I only wish people wouldnt assume they are the truth because it sounds legite enough to get rid of God. I would rather people wait till its out of "theory phase" before accepting it. Scientists are still researching this possibilty (all the while treating it as fact though they don't have any direct evidence).
6. This I do not regard as an arguement but more of a (admitably) lame atempt to sway you in your oppinion's I myself have never used it.
7. Yet again I must point out if unless you have accepted christ as your lord and savior you cannot and never will understand the change that occurs inside of you. What Christ has done for me in my life is remarkable but I cannot express them enough in detail to sway you.
In my final statement I just want to ask you. How can you attack someone's beliefs then expect them not to defend themselves? How can you get offended by them when they do defend themselves? If you never come to believe in GOd and Jesus CHrist I simply ask that you be both respectful and understanding of other's and there oppinion's. I;m sorry if I didn't make any sense to you and I'm especcially sorry if it seems I am preaching at you but I only write this out of the Passion I feel for my God and my savior. I hope understanding comes to you one day.

1. The fact we're here does not prove evolution is correct. You have flawed logic. 2. So? They have similar bone structures, thats all... Maybe god made it that way? 3. Go ahead, feel that way. If on the "off chance" god IS real, I'm safe. Are you? 4. So? You have a moral code that tells you not to be evil. Guess where the origins of the western "moral code" comes from... The bible. Don't be a moron please. 5. How could I? How could YOU believe in evolution? Its just a theory. What do you have to gain from believing in evolution? Nothing! What do you have to gain from believing in God? Pretty much the insurance policy that you will NOT go to hell if he does actually exist. 6. Pfft toothfairy DOES exist, I saw her once! 7. See, you've been saved by the toothfairy. All bow down to the fairy-godess of teeth.

Yeah, a lot of those types of answers on both sides, really. Or the ones I can't stand, when a questioner asks a certain group of people, but someone not of that group answers and says "...They are like so and so because of this and that..." making totally incorrect assumptions. Such things tell me the limited intelligence that is out there, the closed-minded, and the hard-hearted, who are so insecure that they feel that they must answer for all, and parroting without realizing how wrong they are because they are too lazy to find out for themselves, or they decide that being intolerant must be the way to be.
How does it make me feel? Um, I think I've gotten insults rather than reciprocity, at times it feels as if I didn't get my question out to the right group of people, and I feel greatly frustrated that my question did not get the attention it truly deserves. I try to ignore the ignoramuses (that thumbs down button hides them if you hit it) and I use that button if the person is downright vitriolic.
Putting a question on this board makes my fingers shake.

1. Ummm... that's invalid if I think we came here from God and how exactly does us being here prove evolution? Someone definitely put us here; we didn't just appear out of thin air, but it's not definite that we have changed since we got here.
2. If monkeys were the lesser species (that's why we would evolve), why do monkeys still exist? How did they survive survival of the fittest if they weren't fit to survive?
3. You feel in your heart--that's meant for love--that someone is Not there? Hmmm. Okay. Whatever you wanna use your heart for.
4. Christians know we're evil. That's why we need God to forgive us of our sins through Jesus. We can admit our wrongs, and yes, we do need the Bible to teach us how to be better and more worthy of Jesus' sacrifice. All of #4 is true. I don't think there's a Christian out there who can deny it or would want to be proud enough to say that it's false. Humility is encouraged by that Bible.
5. It's not a theory. There's a 3000 page book testifying to it; there's billions of years of life testifying to it; there's this soul who keeps bringing me up everytime I fall; there's some spirit that allows me to smile when I feel jaded, to forgive others when I am still too hurt, to show kindness and compassion and zest for life when I am sick and tired of getting up in the first place. It's not me. I'm a terrible person. But God has lowered himself that I might be glorified through his deeds. What kind of perfect soul should do that for me when I won't glorify him in my own? That's God.
6. We know that humans invented the tooth fairy. It's fact. Next time someone sticks a tooth under their pillow, see if it disappears without a human. Next time you need God,s ee if it has to come from a person, or if you can find it in spirit, in life, in the day, in time, in a soul.
7. A. the legend of the tooth fairy has nothing to do with her saving people. B. it has nothing to do with her smacking people for teeth. C. you made that up; the tooth fairy has never smacked you in the mouth. D. God has saved me a thousand times, every single day.
If you want proof, if you want the stories, if you want to know why I believe, write me. I will spend the rest of my life trying to get you to love God, to give him praise, that he might save you from your sins and doubts and life.
If you want to know what I'd do if someone used my arguments against me, you just saw what I'd do. I'd take each one of them, one at a time, and shoot down the way they twist words with sarcasm and false logic, show them the way they have to be insensible to prove a point that deep inside they know is wrong. And then I'd beg them to let go of the need to be opositional; I'd beg them to open their eyes and heart and the rest, you already know.

FYI-not all Christians disbelieve evolution. The thing I find interesting in the current Atheist arguments is that they are reducing religion and faith to it's simplest tenets, then arguing against those. I will admit that most people on here don't present nuanced and intelligent arguments, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in that these days. It's easier to just point fingers and make fun of each other.

1. Evolution is quite possible. God could've guided it through His seven days. no one knows what a day to God is. we just go by our Bibles.
2. yes, we do have DNA shared with monkeys. we also have DNA shared with star fish (who dont have brains), jellyfish, and even alligators. there is no proof we came from monkeys.
3. i am praying that you will open your heart to God.
4. if there is no God, then what is evil? if there is no good, how can you call anything evil? everything would be the same.
5. knowing we have a Creator is a lot more believable than thinking we're all just a mistake by atoms amazingly fitting together.
6. God loves everyone equally. He loves those who do not know Him and sin against Him just as much as He loves Christians.
7. miracles happen all the time. athiests see them differently than Christians. Christians see them as God's work for His people. athiests see them as accidents.

It doesn't really bother me too much but I disagree with much of what you say. However, you are pretty off base with #5 it is a faith, not a theory, and you are one of a handful of people to think that. I do more or less agree with #4.

They say you have gotta to be brave to be an atheist!
I am a Christian. But I belong to a church (Episcopalian) that is committed to rationality. And we are (mostly) liberal with respect to dogma, so your arguments don't bother me very much.
Your point #4 is most interesting. I think that I would agree that everything else in creation, stars, galaxies, plants, and so forth, proceed, evolve, behave, etc. without self-consciousness and without error. Maybe humans are the only creatures smart enuf to be disobedient.
A guy told me once that God could have created a perfect world... Unfortunately, you and I would not be in it!
