I feel so bad, but I don't know what to do. The vet said to make my cat an outdoor cat or put him to sleep. He will not use a litter box and I have had him checked and had experts try to figure it out. He is only a year old.

The neighbor isn't very happy and there are other cats doing it too, but she knows my cat and has no clue who owns the others. There is no law in our town about cats running loose.

my vet is a small town vet that mainly specializes in larger animals. There is one more vet in town but they are large animal too and diffently have a bad rep with small animals.

It is a natural feral action for a cat to attack birds, baby or not. Unless you want him to continue you are going to have to follow the vet's advice and have him put to sleep or get busy and build him a big outdoor pen to leave him in until the birds are finished nesting and the babes are gone. Then he be chasing adult birds. It is normal. Don't be surprised if he finds you a mouse or snake or 2 either.

I don't know why you can't keep the cat inside. I'm sure other vets might have different opinion. But might want to be careful since I've seen news stories about neighbors poisoning outdoor cats because they're nuisance. One lady left some chicken soaked in anti freeze outside knowing her neighbor's cats will come eat it.

err, what kind of vet do you have?? I would not go to a vet that advocates killing your cat. Anyway, cats kill birds, that is just life, it is natural, they are hunters and you can't change that. If she is a bird breeder, then she should have cat proof cages. If they are wild, well, that is kind of sad, but normal. she could trim the trees a little, or alot and that would make it harder for kitty to hide and stalk the birdies. Or she could get a dog that might deter kitty from coming in her yard.

my cat does the same thing. but gets other cats pregnant. only comes i when hungry or bored i don't really know. you don't have to put asleep.but you should train it a little buy a cage and when you go out for any amount of time find him and put him until you get home. he probably likes the freedom and you shouldn't take a lot away from him keep in mind everything has feelings.

Are the baby birds, your neighbor's pets or simply birds that come to his garden. If they are her pets, then she should keep them indoors so your cat can't get to them.
All cats can become litter trained. Try different things besides the usual clay litter, like paper or pine litter. I do hope you find someone to help.

Did you ever just leave him in a bathroom with his box for a while. I guess you must have tried that. As far as the birds go,that's what cats do. All the best;^)
