Once upon a time there was the Christian Church...300+ years later, the Romans decided to try Christianity. Instead of taking it as it was, they wanted to conform it to their pantheistic belief system. Then the "Holy Roman Empire" or the Papacy took over Christianity, and made the claim they were the church since St. Peter...claiming him to be the first pope...They changed times and laws in accordance with Daniel's prophetic warnings...they made the traditions of men, paganistic rituals, and satanic methodology the religion of the day. All who did not conform were eradicated--like the Daleks of Dr. Who, or the Borg of Star Trek...whatever did not assimilate was destroyed; whoever kept the doctrines according to scripture was branded a heretic and hunted down for death. Christians who kept the true Sabbath as God asked us to, were among those murdered by the "Holy Roman Empire". When the Protestant movement began, it was because the Holy Spirit allowed people the opportunity to read the scriptures for themselves--with access to this new knowledge, people questioned the actions of the Catholic Church...selling forgiveness so the Pope can improve his palace, or the cardinals can adorn themselves more ornately.
When we choose to follow man rather than God, we set ourselves up for failure in God's eyes.
