The politicians started all these destructive activities. Now every group is using this as a weapon.Such acts should be handled strictly and severely.
Not only they should be punished.they must be made to pay for the damages. They have no right to take the law into their hands.

No they are not, Indians are such smart people and India has the potential to be the greatest country in the world, The history and culture is so rich and it is a shame Indians choose to act so immature and protest in this way. India is not a banana republic it is a wonderful nation and so are the people. Don't feel bad other countries let there people down as well, the recent Summit in Germany what stupidity those demonstrators showed......There needs to be strict punishment, as this is not a way to show freedom of speech.....or get your point across.........

I oppose this way of protesting 100%. Stoping such activities is very difficult because mass involved in such act are even ignorant of, for what they are agitating? in most of the cases some, at time all, political party or entity are sponsering the act for their power / financial gain. Our country has such a huse hungry population that it is very easy to gather them for just meals a day, think which way it is possible to curb or controll this?
It is only the governing bodies (both in power & the opposition) can bring halt to this, no one else, but question is whether they like it to do? They meet the post riot expences in bellions (by paying compensation to victims, by reparing /replacing cost of public vehicles & meeting damages to various public properties etc.), but they would not try to eradicate hunger! I am afraid ! do they feel, some time, that they too are from same human race ! I doubt, for the only reason that they are ignorant of the suffering happened to others can happen to them or their near & dear in the course of time.

I'm not from India but doesn't sound like a good way to protest. Violence, vandalism etc isn't the way to go about it. They should hold a peaceful protest. Still getting their point across but in a more civilised manner and not hurting anyone. I would have thought that would have been better.

Protests should be peaceful only in the country of MAHATMA Gandhiji. Threr is no place for violence in real human society whether it is from public or from so called security forces( this way they actually become insecurity forces).
In Kashmir valley , the massive Indian army(12,00,000 troops) has no accountability & has been commiting genocide for last 18 years , killing 7,00,000 innocent civilians only bcoz they are asking their legitimate right of self determination to be exercised, guaranteed by UNEQUIVOCAL UNSC (FREE & IMPARTIAL PLEBISCITE)resolution dated 5 th January, 1949 which could not be implemented due to non co-operation of Nehru, the 1st prime minister of India with UNO by dilly dallying dirty tricks by attaching that issue with irrelevant ones & by this way adopting EVASIION & OBFUSCATION tricks whic the present politicians too are continuing till today, not based upon basic principles of HONESTY & INJUSTICE.
In UNO records this issue is the oldest one UNRESOLVED till now.

Maybe they just don't feel like they're being heard. The caste system is wrong. A country can't open itself up to modern western ways and still expect its population to continue to be accepting of ancient, oppressive ways. They sound frustrated to me.

Mass actions must be staged peacefully in order that the people will sympathize with the protestors. They will get support for their grievances. However, it there are violence and damage to property, they will be apprehended by the policemen and people will not be behind their issues.

People are in darkness here.. both the questioner and the answerers. Hunger strike is not criminal. Supreme court has ordered in 1991-2 (i remember) that one has the basic-fundamental-birth-right to commit suicide. It is not criminal. Nobody can do about it anything. I agree fully wityh "d p".

Meausres to control such Social unrests or any Politically motivated Bandhs :

1.' Fine ' the centre of influence i.e the person holding processions by gathering masses for his own selfish interests .....encouraging such bandhs.Ask him to pay for the financial damage done to the country.

2. Spontaneous Legal actions in case the gathered mob destroy public / national property.

3. If the pro active information of bandh was already present then the pro active steps to control bandh has to be decided before hand by government or police force.

4. Being a democratic country Government should ask them to gather at a separate 'public / revolt ground' (provided by government) or 'khulla maidaan' where they can shout their slogans or blow thier lungs out for their demands.... without disturbing normal life or creating unrests ...so that innocent public does not suffer by such bandhs......specifically fellow indians who are dependant on daily wages to feed their families and can not work because of such protests or bandhs.

5. If anyone moves out of that 'public / revolt ground' and creates mischief in public he should be arrested immediately.

All the above measures will ensure that Indian Police Force and Indian Goverment has moved out of the famous Indian realm of 'Sab Chalta hai attitude'.

For any further free innovative measures to be actioned please feel free to contact.

Dear Fellow Indian,

Another shameful day in history of India where we all are captive by MONSTERS of Quota and Castes. As per TOI few MLAs are also supporting these henious act.

Though all these political leaders supporting BANDH may enjoy life in their closed air coditioned chambers but what about our fellow indians who live on daily wages? what about their families who are dependent upon the daily wages of these workers ? Another day of starvation.....families dying of hunger as they can not earn their daily wages .....because of Bandh.

Solution does not lie in using police force to control the mass gathering by Gujjars. But a true Indian leader should completely remove words like Quota, Caste , Religion ,Reservation etc. from constitution.

Let's be practical and understand if a fellow Indian is hungry he can not eat Quota, Caste, Religion, Reservation to survive .....he has to eat food and for that he needs to work to earn daily wages without any BANDH.

If a person has to donate blood to any other fellow indian in need , he can not restrict himself because of any caste, creed ,quota or religion . SHOULD HE?

Friends if we are brave enough to remove these barriers of QUOTA, CASTE, RELIGION, RESERVATION from constitution that are becoming hinderance in country's development then only I will accept the fact that Indian leaders are not coward, backward or stingy.

Regards
