As much as I hate to say that I feel like we are destroying ourselves... slowly but surely, that's exactly what is happening. We live in a greedy world, where no one wants to go out of their way for the things that they so desperately "need". The rich have a hunger and greed that can never be met, hence the gas prices (at least here in America), & the cost of living, we have a bullshit war that was established in the name of someone attacking our country, (even though the original reason for going to war has gone out the window) so that the rich in our country can make money from the deaths of our loved ones.... Bush had his own agenda and has only made things worse. I could go on forever with this question, and am more then happy to continue discussing it with you in an email... I wouldn't have enough room here. Blessed Be Ariel.

The side effect of lust for knowledge of how the earth works may take us first. There is a project in europe that may try to create an unstable blackhole on the earth. I spend alot of time trying to convice people that scientists dont always know what there doing when they do it and that this project may end us as a race. There are other projects that could do the same someday.

What I want is for people in power to understand that ever machien of thought we create has a chance to kill us and the more advanced our thoughts and machiens become the more the chance of us becoming killed by them is. Believe it or not the wheel had a chance to kill humanity just as did the atomic bomb and this project at CERN has even more of a chance imo. The technology it could lead to might even be worse if used in the wrong hands then a blackhole becoming stable and starting to kill the earth...

Basicaly there is still hope and that hope is growing as people grow but that never means we as a race should let our gaurd down to ignorance.

In respect to your question about how long can we continue I think we have already past the point where we should have been wiped out by acting the way we are. So with every day I have I am thankful because I know its a day I could have not had.

I do not believe a single soul will be lost to the nothing of non existance. What can we destroy our souls with? You cant make something that exists not exist anymore by useing something that exists imo. So may the life after death be amazing for all who journey it.

I think that sooner or later we will be gone. Wiped. Forgotten. People have been on this planet for quite a brief spell in it's history and they have done much to extinguish life on earth. If you believe in a god who created everything, then perhaps you can consider the idea that perhaps the civilization of man is the final plague, sent to destroy all life on earth, something that not even a giant asteroid from space could accomplish.

We have been behaving like a virus, with the earth as the host. Except there is nowhere else we can go. Once we kill this one, it's over for us as well. Perhaps we'll stop before it's too late. But that's not a course of action that would be much in agreement with any chapter of human history.

Please omit me from the groups you have accurately described as greedy and insensitive. I believe that in less than 500 years from now, whatever natural resources were available from our earth will be totally depleted.
I also believe that many of the greedy will begin to colonize another planet. There will be facilities that have been created by astronaut engineers, that will provide the necessary atmospheres needed by humans for survival.
However, because our earths atmosphere will never be able to be exactly duplicated, those colonists will undergo specialized mutations, which will be necessary for survival. When that begins to happen, these colonists will gradually become a different species and eventually will cease being human.
Those of us who choose to stay on our planet will find methods to produce what is necessary for our survival here. We will be different as well. This is my vision of the future of our species.

It's frightening to read responses from people who honestly think Jesus is coming soon to make a new Earth. I sincerely hope none of these people work for the EPA.

But, to answer your question,. man seems committed to destroying the environment despite the best efforts of those who realize how fragile it has become. We are doing ourselves no favors by continuing to take the Earth's resources for granted.

It is not too late to turn things around...If only we could learn to live a more peaceful life and also learn to appreciate all of the beauty and wonderment this precious earth has to offer us.I cannot imagine what will happen if we don't change our lifestyles soon...The world will be a horrible place torn apart by famine and disease. If you think it's bad now,it can only get worse.

I really do not think the planet can handle this type of population along with the life style we live without it getting even on us. A major population decrease is in our future, unless we can find other habitable planets, but then again who would want a disease like us spreading out into the universe.

The Earth will go on. Whether humans do is another matter. If we ruin the environment, we'll only be ruining it for certain types of life. Nature will always figure out a way to continue, no matter what we do. So don't feel sorry for the earth, feel sorry for the people, and the animals we will take into extinction with us.

If you really want to know the future, the truth and not just people's opinions, you need to read Revelation. When you know the future, you can know how to live today. No matter what we do, the future is all spelled out in Revelation, as God knows past, present and future. Man cannot change what God has revealed. The only thing you can do is choose where you will end up after you die and how you are going to live the rest of your life here and who you will serve while here. Cry out for Jesus to show you truth and His love for you so that you can choose to follow Him now so that you'll be with Him in eternity. This is from my heart, which is where the Holy Spirit resides due to my Faith in Jesus. God bless you

The ravaging of the Earth will lead to its destruction, but not in every sense of the meaning. I remember reading about how vertain species of flora will only grow in ashes. Nature is like that. When we destroy this planet we are so graced to have, it will slumber and we shall die. When it awakens once more, we will not be around to greet it.
