skeptics feel the way they do because they have earnestly approached god and the possibilities of his existence.
christians love to portray them all as sinfully choosing, in hateful ignorance, to attack the concept of god and objective morality.
Many mistakenly say that skeptics only want to defeat religion so that they can do the things that religion prohibits.
It makes no sense how christians approach the idea of why these people are in dissent.
people attack the bible and its reasoning because they love humans and they believe in morality.
I know christians here think that you have effective, competent apologetics to all skeptic questions, but the truth is, at best, many things are VERY contentious. the fact that so many things in the bible need apologetical answers is also an issue.

we don't argue these things to death because we are spiteful and bitter towards god, it is because we love humans.
and we certainly hope their is a god,
but there are many things about our current conception of god that you would be stupid NOT take a step back, with a wide eyed view, and sincerely questioned it in your life. It makes no sense how so many Christians act like skeptics are stupid and that everything about theology makes complete, perfect sense.
I know there certainly are some sardonic, argumentative skeptics here on the R/S section. I think we all, christians and skeptics alike, are guilty of desiring to make each other feel stupid for being wrong. But in the aggregate, the skeptics’ and christians’ attacks on each other come from the same loving, moral place in our hearts, that wants the best for all mankind.

I have asked this here before, and some try to say “don’t portray us all like that”
The truth is this is a very accurate description of how all Christians approach atheists and atheism. Christian theology pretty much dictates that atheists, mulsims, buhddists, ect. will not got to heaven for their disbelief. The only way Christians can rationalize people going to hell for eternity for not believing in Christ is by telling themselves that skeptics are so dumb and hateful towards goodness and god and morality that they deserve their fate

Still others want to act like it is the Christians that take most of the heat anyways. I don’t thing so at all. We live in a Christian nation, and you will receive a lot less trouble here in America when trying to evangelize Christianity to people than you would if you tried to proselytize atheism to people.
And at worst, Christians are portrayed as being stupid and hypocritical.
I would much rather someone call me that than how they portray skeptics; which is as hateful towards god, goodness, morality and humanity.

Because it allows them to dismiss the skeptics without having to think about the skeptics' questions.

I have read a lot of questions on this site and it appears to me that Christians are put down more so than atheists. But I guess each of us can read the same thing and hear something different.
I am a Christian. Christianity is not a religion. Just thought I would point that out.
When a person is absolutely sure of anything, they have a tendency to say so; especially when asked or confronted. I know God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit are real. True atheists know He does not exist. Neither of us are mean, immoral, hateful people.
From the atheist view, religion is the root of all evil/ignorance. That is true of some religions. Even true of some who call themselves Christian.
Christians know that we, as a country and as a people, are better off with God in our world and in our country than we are without Him.
As a Christian, I cannot say who is going to hell or to heaven. God will deal with each of us. Who is to say that the most vocal nonbeliever will not be saved just before he dies? That is God's decision. He can deal with anyone in anyway He chooses. Fair? I am a Christian for 30 years and he is a Christian for 1/30th of a second and we both get the same treatment?? Yes, it's fair. Thank God, it is fair!!!!
Do I think your a fool? No. Just believing the wrong thing. Do you think I am a fool? Maybe, maybe not. But you do think I am believing the wrong thing.

It would be a mistake for either of us to stereotype all Christians or all non Christians as having all done the same things. I'm a Christian and I recognize that it's not accurate to assume all skeptics think the way they do as a result of hatred or bitterness toward Christ or the Bible, or even to assume they think the same way at all! Frankly, any Christian who suggests that demonsrates his personal inexperience.
I personally know (and am friends with) many unbelievers in God. Some just don't care about the subject either way. Some just don't know enough, but are interested. Some have looked at it and reject God outright. I mean, that's why we have terms like agnostic, atheist, theist, etc.

I don't believe all skeptics are bitter towards God however I do see enough people in here who lack sincerity. This is evident by the quality of questions and answers they post. Comments that are intended to inflame or insult peoples intelligence. Sure some Christians can be rude to but not quite to the extent as I have seen here. I have read questions about God raping people, other questions portraying Jesus as a homosexual, comments about wanting to kill Christians. So yes some skeptics do appear to have unresolved anger issues. Whether theare directed at God or Christians is disptuteable.

Well, many skeptics are bitter to the concept of god and bitter towards religion. I think that is born from the experience of those people.
Morality is very firm if god exits and there is fixed commandments. Without that, then everything becomes relative - and from a religious point of view that relativity is immoral.
For example, if god's command is "through shalt not steal".. that is to a christian a strict moral law.
But if there is no god and no strict law, you could say "it's ok to steal, if the person I am steeling from is rich" or "stealing is admirable, if I can get away with it" etc.
You might consider the your independent moral belief moral, but from a religious point of view - it is not since it morality is not relative and is defined by god not humans.

You are putting all Christians in the category of being ugly to others. Why do you do that? If you think for one moment, us Christians are not one person or one persons voice. So many on here are rude to all Christians just because a so called Christian said something out of the way to them.
Don't judge every Christian by what someone else says. You dont personally know us....

long question, easy answer. Most christians let one apple(in their eye) ruin the whole bunch.
If your a skeptic, you have no faith. If you have no faith than you are evil. If you are evil you do all kinds of evil things.
I always thought this was a funny way of thinking. Arent god fearing men supposed to have compasion for ALL of gods children? If your christian, you should not assume bad things about people.

look heathen, when i make a poorly thought out, self righteous and oft times Jingoistic blanket statement, the last thing i wanna do is provide supporting arguments for my assertians!
you can't change my mind if you can't get me to consider some other viewpoint logically or in practical terms! HA!
besides, i have a book that says what i do is correct! it's YOU'RE problem if you don't believe in my book!
btw... What would Jesus drive? an EV-1?

I can't answer for all christian but I can answer for myself.
Christian can be religious like the religious people in Jesus' time. In fact they often are. Religion and religious people try to fulfilled the Law of God by their own efforts which is futile.
Only true christian who understand and living under God's Grace can portray the true nature of God inside them.
Maybe you are looking at the wrong crowd ?

It makes it easier to blame you for "the moral decay of society" and any other ills they can come up with. All while accepting no responsibility themselves.
