Genesis 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

This mark was seen by everyone so they knew he was unrighteous in the eyes of God. Black people came when God confused the people's tongues at the tower of Babel. Their appearences changes with their speach.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Hello. I've been a Muslim 15 years, and was a Christian before that, and this is the first I've ever heard of such a thing. It flies in the face of reality, which is that all the "potential" races were in the DNA of the first man, Adam, peace be upon him, and those characteristics became manifest as humankind spread over the earth and separated into different tribes, which was by Allah's will. It may be that our father Adam, peace be upon him, was a man of brown or olive or red or white or yellow skin - we have no pictures of him so we don't know for sure. The idea that one's "blackness" is a curse from Allah is ridiculous and a slam against people of color. We are not to be judged by the color of our skin, but by how well we fear Allah and worship him. Thus a brown or black or yellow or olive skinned person can far outstrip a Caucasian. We Muslims believe that Cain was jealous of his brother Abel and murdered him, similar to the Genesis account. And Allah knows best. May Allah guide you to the best in this world and the next. Ameen. Nowhere that I am aware of does the Bible ever say what the "mark" on Cain was. It does not say he was turned black.

Furthermore, whatever the mark was, I can't see how it is relevant today. If you take the biblical account literally, everyone was killed out in Noah's time (way after Cain), and his 3 sons are the ones who survived to repopulate the planet.

actually the black people are believed to have come from Ham one of Noah's sons. Ham settled in the land of Cush after the Great Flood, which the land of Cush is an ancient name for Ethopia, which is why many believe that the black people came from the line of Ham.

Ham was also cursed by Noah.

I wonder what Noah was thinking when each one of his sons had different physical features such as Ham being black.

The tower of Babel was after the Great Flood, Cain was long dead before the tower of Babel was even thought about or built.

Cain's forehead was marked with black ash, thats all not his
body.

check out this link it is about Ham(Noah's son) and could into great detail about the nation that came from his line.

Your husband is mistaken. God put a mark there and some believe that is where the idea of writing was invented.

Others here have told you how skin color occurred. I hope you are enlightened now.

As for your husband ask him this question.

What person who was ever born on this earth told God what color, race, or sex he could be when he was born?

If no one has then we should all be quiet about it.

Actually if you want to annoy your husband or most other people, point out that blue eyes are a mutation. The majority of people in the world have brown eyes--African, Italian, Greek, Russian, on and on--so is it possible the Mark of Cain was blue eyes? How did blue come from brown?

And for all those who are going to email hateful responses, I have dark blue eyes myself. It was while I was studying biology that it was pointed out that blue is a mutation, unexplained in scientific terms.

Life began in Africa that is where the Garden was, with most the world being people of color, I think it is pretty evident the mark God put on Cain, He made him white.

Human skin color can range from very dark to nearly colorless (appearing pinkish white due to the blood in the skin) in different people. Skin tone is determined by the amount and type of the pigment melanin in the skin. On average, women have slightly lighter skin than men.

In general, people with ancestors from sunny regions have darker skin than people with ancestors from regions with less sunlight. However, this is complicated by the fact that there are people with ancestors from both sunny and less sunny regions, and whose skin coloring may have any shade of the spectrum of possible tones. Sexual selection also plays a role.
