cuz like with anything, it's hard to be dominant in all categories of food/life/sports.

Because there are better chefs in the world than Bobby Flay. He has a great personality and has brought cooking to many folks but his technique when not grilling is sometimes flawed. I've found that for true technique, look to the Master Chefs when they make something you might consider common like Roasted Chicken or Braised Short Ribs. There is where the true excellence lays.

Because they make him do Throwdowns with things he has never cooked before with people who are experience in that field.
For example, the Wedding Cake Throwdown. He had NEVER attempted to bake a wedding cake, a very complicated thing. He went up against a professional wedding cake baker who probably gets millions of dollars a year for her cakes!!!
He lost, but the judges said his looked better to eat than fanciness.
So, he is an awesome chef when he cooks what he knows. But, not when he cooks something new. I feel pretty bad for him...he has lost a lot and it is earning him a pretty bad rep for people who don't understand why he is losing.
Also, if he always won...it would totally embarrass the person he is competing against. The person he is competing against has probably never been on TV either.

Most of the time he doesn't even know how to make what the other guy specializes in and he does win alot. I like Bobby Flay, I think he's very talented...and so do many others obviously. He's extremely successful.

Bobby Flay does not always loose. He is a great chef who cooks a wide variety of food. He competes against people who specialize in one item.

I agree with Kenny- the people he challenges are the masters of the dishes they make. They've been making them and perfecting them for years, whereas Bobby Flay has to learn how to make them in just a few days! I think he does pretty well!

he has no respect for the other chef, the cultural differences-he thumbs his nose at them. Just like he did when he went to Japan for his first battle as Iron Chef. When the set cooking time was up, he jumped up on the preparing counter with his dirty shoes and jumped up & down, raising his fist in the air, like he had won. His doing that while cooking against Iron Chef Morimoto--gave the win to Iron Chef Morimoto. I say it's his lack of respect of his opponents.

bobby flay is a hack who specializes in a very tired style of cuisine. yeah, southwestern/mexican food is good, but how many times can the guy roast a chile and have everyone think he's doing something adventurous. he's a poor man's rick bayless at best, and rick bayless is a hack too.
