isnt it a bit selfish to only marry people with the same beliefs? That just keeps people from meeting other people and a bit smothering.

Marrying someone of a different religion makes life very difficult. Not only do I not believe a Christian should date or marry a non-Christian, but I also don't believe a Hindu should date a non-Hindu or a Wiccan should do a Non-Wiccan. I think when someone makes a point to choose a particular religion in their life and makes that religion one of the main things in their life, it is hard to have someone that is a partner in every aspect of their life NOT be also a spiritual partner. I want someone that follows my faith because my faith will be a part of my life no matter what. If something is wrong, I want someone that will pray with me. When we get married, I want someone that will go to church with me. If I was a witch, I would think the exact same way. I would want someone that is on the same spiritual path that I am on. I don't think it's going contrary to desiring to procreate at all.

There are plenty of other Christians for them to marry. "Not being equally yoked" comes from when two oxes are pulling a plow they need to be equal or they will not be able to work together. Christians need to marry like minded people with the same values they have. There are plenty of examples where some group or belief is "pro" something but there are still limits.

properly God has advised us that it is significant. God in no way lies and the reality he properly-knownshows to us is to loose us. in case you refuse to take him for His observe then he reminds us that he can't be mocked, we gain what we sow. appropriate to being the two yolked he additionally says this, "Can 2 walk at the same time except they agree?" meaning can there be peace and cohesion and team artwork in case you're in war of words? in case you're an American and you seem at our government surprising now (Democrats verses Republicans) you will see what God meant. Your boyfriend won't have the same priorities. His priorities would be earthly and yours would be heavenly. take it slow to earnings what yoked at the same time potential. Oxen have been yoked at the same time to tug a plow and so in the event that they have been yolked at the same time yet did no longer agree they could be in each and every single place. One could prefer to pass here and the different there. they does not get lots artwork finished. they does not get alongside.

If you marry someone outside of the christian faith and you are a christian, your better half is going to pull you away from the beliefs you have, it's more a bit of wisdom to christians who wish to get married.

It's nothing to do with being prejudice. The true Christians out there don't have to judge, they just have to listen so they might know how to judge.

If I were to tell someone not to marry someone who is not equally yoked, it would be because I would hope for there relationship to last because they met someone compatible.

I've also heard several Christians saying great things about eharmony.com. A marriage is hard enough if you want it to work. Compatibility is important because there is enough to be concerned with without having that roadblock of incompatibility.

being equally yoked can mean more than being the same religion. Like having the same standards and work ethics, same ideas of parenting... etc. If you marry a person who doesn't share similar ethics and are only of the same religion you still wouldn't be equally yoked.

I'm not understanding your question. What does Creationism have to do with a passage of the New Testament advising Christians to marry other Christians?

2007-06-03 17:27:29 · answer #8 · answered by solarius 7 · 2 0

what exactly does one have to do with the other? Your question does not make sense.
I would not want to be unequally yoked , not just in marriage, where my husband and I would not be on the same page spiritually- I want to walk my walk with Him and to share my faith and growth with Him, My faith is the core, central part of my life and I don't want to entertain or struggle with false religions and false gods. I wold not want to struggle with opposing views on how to raise my children- we need to be in agreement over that very important area of our lives.
The same goes with anything in my life- I would not get into a financial or business agreement with someone who was not on the same page as I was about financial and business matters.
Not being in agreement on such important core issues brings destruction- divorce, strife, a tearing down of authority and order in the home - those things are anti creation and completely against what my faith is all about- that is how it makes sense.

I'm a Christian....and I don't have a clue what equally yoked is...I've never heard that nor have I been taught that before.

We believe in marring other Christians...simply because having two people together that believe in the same thing makes for a stable relationship...but thats about it.

It makes a lot of sense because Science has proven that those who are compatible Spiritually have a better chance of making it without divorce. It is funny that God already knew that thousands of years ago.
