Source: American Legion. Why did the war supporters say the war will be easy and over in 6 to 8 months?

Our enemy, while not well educated, is neither blind nor stupid. Think they aren't aware that there's an election right around the corner? Think they're not watching the U.S. news? All they report is doom an gloom and polls that say what a horrible job Bush s doing. It emboldens them. I too pay attention to the news. Immediately after the November elections, CNNs Headline News reported that bothe the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq and the "president" of Iran were commending the American people for having voted in the Democrats. Why would they commend us for that? Heck! In Spain, all it took was one bomb in a crowded train station to swing the vote and exit the war... Cowardly. Last weeks Marine Corps Times reported that more and more large weapons caches are being discovered. What they're finding is that most of the weapons discovered are Thompson machine guns (1920-40s "Tommy Gun") and Nazi Mausers and Parabellum machine guns stamped with Swastikas and Eagles. Gosh, from an analytical point of view, I wonder what that means...
Guess you slept through the Bush speech where he said that this would be a long and tough war.

Hon - just cause you type in the 'source' as being the American legion - that doesn't make it true.
Don't forget 1. Due to the anti war people, morale is down. 2. Iran is aiding the insurgents.

Because the U.S. Marines were held back at Fallujah, on the pretense that politicians could settle the little problem. (re: Vietnam) and instantaneously all forces theater wide went into a hang-out-and-get-shot-at-but don't attack stance.

1) b/c if he said we were goin to war and it would take 10-15 years do you think anyone would have supported it? no! The govt used the emotion and raw feeling of 9-11...and it worked
2)its getting more dangerous b/c the enemy is getting smarter, using better bombs and technology from other countries to fight us
