It is to help in reproduction. Of course the man has to have an orgasm to ejaculate the sperm. When the woman orgasms it helps to get the sperm where it needs to be in order to fertilize the egg but it isn't absolutely necessary. I read that in the Renaissance poets would calls an orgasm a "little death." I guess maybe because it was the closest intense thing they knew to be comparable with death.
One poet said he wanted to "die a thousand deaths a day." Good stuff.

Who knows? Nobody has the answer to that, because nobody was given the book that answers the question of "why" or "what is the meaning" regarding such abstract things. People can make stuff up, and if the shoe fits, wear it. My guess: it's to let people know when the process of conception has begun, and to offer a "reward" or tangible benefit to seeing that the intercourse comes to the point of completion for reproductive purposes.

Duh- let me count the weighs. It causes the bodies to make the proper environment for zygote to meet egg in the medium of best possible liquor. It causes endorphens to be enjected to the brain/nerves that cause a euphoric and catotonic state for the relaxing of those constrictions that open the uterus to accept semen more readily.It serves to cause reponse to stimuli of the erogenous nerves as a memory/reward for carnal contact.
