I am trying to put togethor a list of my karaoke CDs. I have two columns that need to stay tied togethor. I need to alphabatize the lists by each column, with one column being the artist and the other column being the song title. Ex- Sort column A (artists), but have the song titles in column B stay next to the original artist. Then I need to do the inverse and sort the column by song title, and have the artists change order to match the song titles. It seems supper simple, so I sure it can be done in EXCEL. Can anybody help me? Thank you.

Try selecting "Sort" from the "Data" menu. I've used several versions of Excel, and in my experience it will either add little down arrows to the beginning of each column you can then click on <> possibly walk you through the whole process by letting you select what you want to do from a window that pops up.

Bottom line: click "Sort" > "Data" and then follow the instructions it provides.

As long as you save the file before you try this, if anything gets screwed up you can just close the file without saving and then re-open it.

Click the table-select button (to the left of A, and above 1).
This will select all data.
-click Sort
-at the bottom left, click "header row" (I do hope you have headers for each column, like "Artist," "Title." (no quotes)
-in the Sort window, click the down arrow to "sort by"
-select the field by which you want to sort, example, Artist
-select the second field on which you want to sort, Title

You will get a list by Artist, with the songs associated with that artist.

For any other list, repeat the above by choosing the fields by which you want to sort.

- Highlight all the data (both columns)
- Click the Data menu
- Click Sort
- Select column A in the first list box (Sort by).
- Select column B in the second list box (Then by)
- If your list has a header row (ie, column headings) then select 'header row' down the bottom
- Click OK.

That should do the trick.
