The Bible doesn't get into the souls of animals because the Bible is salvation history. It is about man's fall from grace and man's redemption, not your little critter's.

The Catholic Church does not have an official dogma regarding the souls of animals. Don't let a Catholic tell you the Chuch says animals do not have souls.

St. Thomas Aquinas said all life was a soul but only humans have an immortal soul.

However, the Catholic Church has never said Thomas Aquinas was infallible. A priest friend said Aquinas apparently never had a dog or pet of any kind.

I have the hope of seeing my little dog and all the kitties I have ever had in Heaven.

...and the Lion will lie down with the lamb...and critters do matter. In Christianity, the Bible makes it clear however, that God put certain animals on this earth to feed His children. Is this a vegan question or a question about taking better care of God's creatures?

Thank you. It is just their material illusion and sense gratification that keeps them hankering after eating animal flesh. They just don't understand that animals have souls. When The bible says God gave man dominion over the animals that doesn't meant to slaughter them and eat them. It means to care for them and protect them. It's not that animals don't matter to God, it's just that the Bible says that Humans are above all of the Animals, we are their masters, and they were given to us to be taken care of and for us to do with them as we please (except for certain things of course). We are considered "God's Masterpiece".
