Many things in the various dogma's are not helpful in today's modern society.
It fosters an US vs. THEM mentality.
Religion seems to divide people, belief in something unites them.
That's what I see lately.
EDIT: I'm talking about all of them.

The reason why I do not care for religion is that I have been to different services from the different religions and the thing that always irritated me was that while the are all going from the same book, every last religion has their own skewed view on what has been written. This is irregardless of what "version" of the bible you are reading from. The only thing that I took away from each is this, their "brand" of religion is right while every one else is wrong and if you go with another religion you will go to hell. (well I have been to episcopal, protestant, baptist, non-demoninational, methodist, pentecostal and mormon(they are not what everyone says they are). They funny thing about all the churches is that they stated that their way is the right way. Another thing that I always thought that once you were baptized ("dunked") you did not have to be baptized again. So explain to me why I had to be baptized a few times to be excepted into a church?

Most people who hate religion in general are only judging based upon their experiences. They may have been bugged by someone speaking on the street, or a co-worker trying to tell them that what they believe is wrong. It's pretty much different for each person.
It's actually a small percentage of people who HATE religion (concidering that only 10% of the population of the United States are Atheists, and a small percentage of them generally dislike religion).
Don't go by the people on Yahoo! Answers because even though there are a lot of haters on Y!A, the amount of non-Religious is actually much smaller.

Gee, with a name like "Majid" - do you suppose we could be talking about Islam here?
I don't hate Islam - I just detest the people who do bad things in the name of Islam (or any other religion/belief system). Until the GOOD Muslims of the world proclaim to all, WITHOUT reservation or qualification, that the Jihadists and the suicide bombers are in the wrong, the world will continue to see such people as the face of Islam, and they will continue to hate and fear it. The rest is up to YOU.

Probably because there are so many ridiculous/false/contradicting religions that most people can't fathom the idea that one of them might actually be correct. However, if you do your homework, you'll find that there is one true "religion" (if a religion is true, can it even be called religion anymore?). It is Christianity, and you can test it by the words of the Bible to see if it is historically, scientifically, and prophetically true. It's the only "holy book" that is 100% dead-on in all of these areas.

People only hate the religions they don't believe in. Anything that differs from their beliefs they hate. Atheists often hate religion because it is what often makes people's decisions. People can't think for themselves. They always turn to religion for the answer, and I believe that is why our government is not making the best decisions for the country.

Religion is mind-control. It is an organized way to exploit man's belief in a deity. It is a way to get money and expound on the lies written in books. Pick a religion... Catholocism, any Protestant denomination, Mormon, Islam, etc. It is men who seek to control other men and all women by using "god" as a mouthpiece.

they see the psychotic extremists on tv that blow up houses and buildings, so they base their judgement on all people of religion for the sins of a few or a handful of phycos that happen to be religious but extremeists also.

Religions are fairy tales made up by man to ease their fear of death. In today's intelligent society, people realize that "religion" kills more people than it will ever save.
