In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most merciful.
Allah the almighty God is the creator of this universe and He
[glory be to him ] knows His creation Best. Man and Woman are nor equal as every one would like to believe ,They are worlds apart from each other,Physically biologically, emotionally, socially and Physiologically.Yet God almighty is fair and has Made man to excell in some fields and the woman to excel in other fields.
Prophets were sent during the dark ages of ignorance .where
the law of the land prevailed, Empires and Dynasties
wanting superiority , were constantly at war with each other and whole nations were enslaved ,Ignorance
and crime were widespread and anyone trying to change a
system or culture were tortured and put to death.
Against such a background God send male messengers
because the male is stronger physically and emotionally and
can endure greater hardships than a female. The messengers had to under go great trials and tribulations as
theirs were an impossible task They had to fight battles and
move masses to make people understand the concept of
one God.They had to be warriors and statesmen ,leaders
and conqueror's and had to suffer hunger and great hardships
and God is most kind to his slaves and knows the limitations
of a woman under such circumstances.
Yet women were also given a great role to play in the spreading of the religion of almighty God.They were a source
of support and inspiration to the prophets and messengers.
Maryam [ mary ] the mother of Jesus [pbut ] is highly Glorified
and we have heard of the pious ones like the wife of Zachariah , and the wives of prophet Abraham. And who can
but be greatful to the wives of the prophets [the mothers of the
believers pbut ] Khadijha [pbuh ]the first to support the prophet Muhammad [pbuh ] when he began preaching in
hostile Arabia, and Ai'asha the mother of believers and the
wife of the prophet Muhammad, who was one of the Greatest
scholars after the death of the prophet [pbuh ] and was a
great source of guidance to the muslim nation. Thus we see
that God also made use of woman in ways he knew best.

The Queran was written as a "fight fire with fire" device, aainst christianity. It uses much of the christian ideology in uniting the Arabs against the slave making tactics of christianity, and some of the anti-female ideology of christianity bled across into the Queran.
Christianity was invented by the Roman Emperor to protect the Roman nobility from their slaves, to manage the slaves and keep them enslaved and make them profitable.Women had a singular plalce in this ideology. A good portion of each "lord's" wealth was measured in the number of slaves under his control, on his land. It therefore was very important that every female slave have as many offspring as possible in a lifetime ot increase the wealth in slaves of the lord. They were forbidden from almost all other activities than childbearing, and any attempts to prevent becoming pregnant forbidden and was punished. The ban on human contraception devices was discarded only about fifity years ago, and still prevails in some christian sects The Romans who wrote the 'bible' considered slave women to be just breeding stock and nothing more. Therefore they made them as unimportant as possible in the 'bible'.

There are prophetesses in the Bible- Agabus had 7 daughters and they were all prophetesses.
Acts 2 "Your sons and daughters shall prophesy."
I doubt the Muslems allow women any religious freedom but thats just a guess.

there were women prophetesses in the Bible. I would think that the Koran wouldn't have them because Islam doesn't allow women to do anything, does it?

Somewhat false. Miriam (old testament) specifically asks "Am I not a prophet?" implying, of course, she was. Deborah, etc. There are a few, just not as many as it was a patriarchal society. Chill.
