I am not really sure how to stop the biting. My cat is two and she nips at me occasionally, but used to do it more often, especially while being petted.I was told that this is a way they show their affection. The kitten may be doing it like babies or puppies do when very young. I generally just tap her on the paw when she does it and stop petting her and she quits. I have had kittens do it now that I remember and it is a playful thing when they are young. Try playing with her with a toy when she is in the biting mood and see if that helps.

When we first got our cat, he was one year old. He bit us mostly when we were petting him. Whenever that happened, we showed our displeasure by firmly saying no and then putting him down on the floor. if he tried to jump up on our labs again, we would put him down again. We would also say firmly bad boy or something similar. The important thing was we also would not look at or speak to him for several hours. It took a while but we began to notice that with this treatment, he began to bite less and less and now he never bites and has become the "perfect" gentleman, er I mean the Purrfect Cat.

because she was so young when you found her, she wasnt taught not to bite. Usually the mom teaches the baby what is "good" and "bad" right now she is teething, meaning she is getting her teeth so it is painful and biting helps. When the cats are together, and one bites, the other usually makes a squeal noise to indicate that it hurts (its high pitched) and the cat knows not to do it again. Do NOT stop giving her attention when she bites because then she will learn that biting means that you will stop playing with her, so, when she gets tired she will bite you so you put her down. It is a bad habit, DO NOT teach her it. Also, it is normal for cats to play bite. If the bite does not hurt or cause bleeding, it is probably a play bite. A real bite and a play bite are MUCH different. When i play with kittens especially, they always bite me just because they are playing but they dont mean to hurt. they are just playing the way that they usually play. It is a problem if the bites actually hurt.

your kitten is just being playful, she doesn't know that she's biting you. She thinks that you're a cat to and that's how they play. My cat is much older and still she gets cared away when playing while she's in my lap. Cats see you as one of them or so I was told, I can't tell you to tap her as others told cause that's a little mean, if she bites give her a little stuffed animal to play with, mine liked her stuffed toy she would hold it with front paws and kick with the hind ones, it looked so funny, maybe that would help.

Your kitten is just trying to play around with you but when she does bite you say a firm "no" and push her away a little bit. After a while give her a pat to let her know you arent still angry with her. Do that every-time she bites and soon she will get the message that you dont want her to bite you.

People, it says in the guidlines to restrain from violence towards animals!!! Just spray you kitten with water from a sprayer, our cat used to jump up on the table and all it tokk was a firm "No." and a water sprayer, (Make it just a mist as your cat is a kitten) and she learned. If you tap a cat on the nose, it tends to make them a little more 'rowdy,' so restrain from that.

sometimes if you give them a little tap on the nose, with a firm no they will learn.. its just playful, you might want to think of adopting a kitty playmate that way they can play bit with each other and not you and your wife..

NEVER EVER PULL A CATS TEETH!!!!!! IT IS VERY VERY VERY MEAN!!!!!!! THAT IS THEIR SELF DEFENSE!!!!!!!! Give the cat a tap on the nose or a squirt with water. If that doesn't work, get the book called Chicken Soup For The Cat Lovers Soul, that is what we did with our kitty. CATS AREN'T WORTHLESS THEY ARE PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
