I've been very active in the gym for a while now, I've always had fights all my life, and I've always been big. I see these pride fighters and UFC guys beat the hell out of people all the time, and I say to myself. "Just one time, just one time to test myself and see what I'm made of" Should I try? I mean I have the size and I'm 205 of muscle. What you guys think?

Being big and strong, having experienced a couple of street fights is in no way compared to fighting professional MMA competitors at the UFC caliber.

If you believe you have a chance you need to train first, take a stand-up art like muay thai, boxing, san shou or kyokushen karate.

You also need to learn grappling, take any art like judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling or sambo.

Once you are properly trained, work on your cardio, then you'll be able to fight MMA provided you have a good coach.

If skip the training and go for pro. fights, you can get seriously hurt, if you do amateur fights you might do well.

good luck!

All fighters started somewhere-not every one is cut out to be a fighter which is part of the question here. Go to a halfway decent school with a good instructor that has some fighters and start taking lessons and working out. In those schools fighters are always looking for some sparring partners. You also will find people like yourself that are considering trying it. The training, school, and other people there (both fighters and what I call school or dojo fighters) will be able to help give you some opportunities to try your skills and see what you are made of.
While some people have the physical abilities to be fighters they don't always have the mental attitude for it. Often times they also see how much of a sacrifice in time and training it takes to be a fighter and that stops them as well. Still others are busy with other things in their lives like jobs, careers, marriage and family and while they work out and fight in the school they just can't or don't want to make a commitment to pursuing it at the expense of other things.
If you take this approach it will give you an opportuinty to learn some new things as well as provide you with an opportunity to try fighting at a level to test yourself. As you progress and gain in skill and experience you can take it to the next level and continue to pursue it without just jumping into the ring. I generally don't recommend that for anyone and if you were to get hurt and can't work or you don't have health insurance it could be a costly mistake in more ways than you think. Once you are in that ring and its a real match its to late to figure out that this is not where you want to be or this other guy has way to much experience for you and you are getting your butt kicked.

Okay, first off realize that the fighters in the UFC, Pride, and other similar shows are for pro athletes. You simply don't start at that level.

You can, however, compete in smaller MMA events. Most large cities (and even a lot of smaller ones) now have regular amateur MMA competitions.

Being tough is simply not enough. You will need to train both your stand up and your grappling game. After a few months, you might be ready to give it a try. I say go for it, but be sure that you know what you are getting into. Go watch some amateur events, find guys to spar with, and honestly evaluate where you are.

I hope that after all that you are still up for it. I just had my first fight a couple of months ago (at age 43), and I can tell you that I would not have missed it for the world!

You should try, but train in one type of martial for a backround such as Muay Thai, Boxing, or BJJ, then start mma classes. Having muscles wont do you any good (look at Chuck Liddell his arms arent big at all) if you dont have skill and it doesnt matter if your big because you'll be fighting guys in your weight class who are around the same size.

If you have a trainer and you've been working out, why not?
Find a place near you where they hold smokers and sign up. You'll be able to discover there whether you have what it takes. Even if you are an independent, you can still compete in most smokers.

Have fun!

have you become the best in your style? i mean have you been in many tournaments and won or lost, because in the ring "muscle" and "talent" isnt as important as experience and determination, and if you asking people on answer.com if you should go into i dont think you ready YET for a fight, btw your weight doesnt count because the guy your fighting will be the same
