I have a Remington Rifle that was given to me as a gift and I only have approximately 400 rounds of ammunition for it. I wish to purchase more ammunition for it.

The 5mm Remington Magnum started out as a rimfire back in 1970. Two different rifles were made for it...a clip fed Model 591 and a tubular fed Model 592. The rifles were made until 1973 when they were discontinued by Remington. The ammunition was made for several more years, but then it was discontinued also. What ammunition that is left on the market has become more collectible than shootable, as a 50 round box can cost as much as $80.00. The original price was $3.00. Therefore, the rifles have become almost useless because ammunition has not been available.

It isn't a standard production item anywhere, so it's a good idea to keep your eye out for any special runs that might be made. I'd suggest you make a habit of checking with Old Western Scrounger, who specialize in this sort of thing. Otherwise, you're probably going to have to hope somebody's selling some old stuff on line.

save what you have. I believe the 5mm has died a slow death, and may not be available hardly anywhere.
